The Outer Reels

We were surprised by this one. It's not good, but it's a lot more fun than we expected it to be!

We're starting a new year with a new season: Forgotten Apocalypse! Jason cheats right off the bat with a movie that only has a slight apocalypse, but it does start with a small nuclear war, so it counts, damnit. We also welcome back our Returning Outer Reels Champion William Smith, for his 3rd appearance in one of our movies!

"Some ex-cons and two helpless girls get trapped inside a mine shaft with a Temu Hills Have Eyes monster that never really becomes a threat." Sam nails that one.

Sam is annoyed that we even did this movie and spends more time talking about He-Man and Johnny Mnemonic, but Jason loved it.

This one's Event Horizon BEFORE Event Horizon?!? It's not a good movie (unlike Event Horizon), but we still have lots to talk about here.

Fun fact from Sam: Director Robert Culp shares a birthday with Cash of Tango and Cash fame. I'm sure you're better for knowing that. This one's an interesting time capsule that Jason enjoyed a fair bit more than Sam.

Sam makes rules onto to break them. Neither director on this movie is a "sometime", but it's fun to see the Shaw Brothers team up with Hammer Films.

We watched this Dan O'Bannon-directed Lovecraft story because Sam wouldn't let Jason pick Return of the Living Dead.

This week we take a look at Sal Bass' only feature as a director: Phase IV. Bass is an artistic genius, and this is not the movie you might think it is from the poster. Also, Sam's still mad about Time After Time.
