Scutari Shifts: New NJ Inspector General Bill

New Jersey State Senate President Nick Scutari unveils a new plan for state oversight, abandoning his controversial bill to strip the State Comptrollers Office of investigatory powers. Instead, he proposes a new inspector general position to investigate waste, fraud, and abuse within the state government. This role will be established through a new bill, which Scutari plans to introduce in the Legislatures next session, working with incoming Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill. The new proposal aims to address concerns raised by officials, including U.S. Senator Andy Kim, New Jersey Attorney General Matt Platkin, and acting State Comptroller Kevin Walsh.
