Adam finishes his off-season solo trilogy which we do believe has kind of wrapped up. Outside of RFAs, all the top, middle, and most of the lesser Free Agents have found homes. So we left off literally seconds before the bombshell Jaylen Brown trade....we now pick up where we left off with the rest of the signings, Adam's thought on the Brown trade, and....whatever's left to put a bow on the season. Start spreading the news! The fat lady has sung, Hell (or is it Hell's Kitchen?) has finally frozen over, and the New York Knicks, led by an unflappable starting five and point guard Jalen Brunson, defeated the young, talented San Antonio Spurs to win the franchise's first NBA Championship in 53 years! I know what you're thinking: How did we get to this point with a second-round point guard leading the Knicks back to the top of the NBA? Adam Murray and Andrew Riche, THE NBA-Team, are here to deep dive a shockingly short but close NBA Finals with some twists, turns, and a ton of missed shots. Was this a good lesson for Victor Wembenyama in his first Finals appearance, and what was the actual lesson? Who will get a statue built in front of the Garden first between Brunson and O.G. Anunoby? Was all of the decades of suffering and big moves for Towns and Bridges worth at the end to get this banner? Another round of Gone Fishin' time here at the NBA Team, and we're covering teams that are really all over the map. Teams who, in their mind, started the season with championship aspirations (GSW/LAC)to teams to had very little day one support (CHA/PHX).... And these teams were all over the power rankings map all season long....it's not hard to be jumbled in the middle when the basement dwellers are so far below, and the actual championship contenders were so far ahead. . . The countdown to extinction is almost over, as the NBA season has FINALLY (literally) come to its endgame with a kinda sorta predictable NBA Finals match up, but one that the league has been waited many years to advertise. It will be the Alien himself (generational superstar Victor Wembenyama, fresh off of dethroning the defending champion Thunder) as he leads the San Antonio Spurs against a talented, efficient machine in Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby and the New York Knicks. Will we see a repeat of their last Finals showdown in 1999 and another monster Spur superstar will tower over all others, or will the Big Apple see their first NBA Championship since 1973? Does this Finals come down to the simple narrative of might over flight, or do the Knicks' surprisingly stout playoff defense have some tricks in store for Wemby and their physical guards?
