  • 97. Jaime Cheesman

    20:53||Season 11, Ep. 97
    In this episode, we bring you the sad story of Jaime Cheesman, a sixteen year old girl from Wellingborough who was last seen in Grimsby in November 1993, over thirty years ago. Jaime was a fiercely independent teenager who decided to leave the home she shared with her father Eric and mother Barbara and move in with a friend of hers in Grimsby before she was even old enough to vote. This episode hears from Jaime’s father Eric. Eric is now in his eighties. He understands the chances of him learning what became of Jaime are becoming less and less likely as the years pass, but like all families of missing people, he can’t help but hold onto a sliver of hope.For more information on this case, and every episode from every series visit https://themissingpodcast.orgAnd to visit details of the most recent appeals - like the one you may have heard in this episode, please visit : https://missingpeople.org.uk/recent If you want to listen to The Missing COMPLETELY ad-free, and help to support the show, then please subscribe to our channel.The Missing + is your home for the very best in true-crime podcasts. • 98. A look back...

    52:49||Season 11, Ep. 98
    The Missing released its first episode in December 2020. In the four years since, we’ve covered more than seventy missing person cases, across the UK and Ireland. In the course of our work, we’ve spoken to hundreds of people, whose brave and unvarnished testimonies have shone a light on a grim phenomenon that is underreported in our communities. Some people are overwhelmed following lengthy battles with severe mental health issues, whilst others have found themselves under too much pressure, whether familial or financial. There are those who fall down the rabbit hole of addiction and there are people who simply found themselves in the wrong place, at the wrong time, in the wrong company. By revisiting some of the interviews we’ve recorded over the past four years we hope to illustrate just some of the myriad of reasons why people go missing and paint a picture of what life is like for the loved ones left behind to pick up the pieces. This podcast wouldn’t exist without them.For more information on this case, and every episode from every series visit https://themissingpodcast.orgAnd to visit details of the most recent appeals - like the one you may have heard in this episode, please visit : https://missingpeople.org.uk/recent If you or anyone you know is struggling with drug or alcohol addiction, you can find some useful information here: https://www.talktofrank.com/get-help/what-is-drug-and-alcohol-treatment-like If you want to listen to The Missing COMPLETELY ad-free, and help to support the show, then please subscribe to our channel.The Missing + is your home for the very best in true-crime podcasts. • 96. Paul Carter

    43:26||Season 11, Ep. 96
    In this episode we bring you the odd case of Paul Carter, who disappeared during an overnight ferry crossing from Portsmouth to Brittany in April 2007. It wasn’t Paul’s first time making the trip to the port of Saint-Malo. He’d made the journey several times before for work reasons and was travelling with three colleagues on the night in question. He was last seen at around midnight but by the time the ferry docked the following morning, he had vanished without a trace. This episode hears from Paul’s mother Theresa. She explains how Paul’s disappearance created a bureaucratic nightmare, where the British police, the French authorities and the ferry operators all refused to take responsibility for his recovery, each pointing the finger at one another. Despite the lack of official support, Theresa has refused to give up hope and seventeen years later, she’s as determined as ever to solve the mystery of what happened to Paul. For more information on this case, and every episode from every series visit https://themissingpodcast.orgAnd to visit details of the most recent appeals - like the one you may have heard in this episode, please visit : https://missingpeople.org.uk/recent If you or anyone you know is struggling with drug or alcohol addiction, you can find some useful information here: https://www.talktofrank.com/get-help/what-is-drug-and-alcohol-treatment-like If you want to listen to The Missing COMPLETELY ad-free, and help to support the show, then please subscribe to our channel.The Missing + is your home for the very best in true-crime podcasts.
