What do you want to be when you grow up? What are your passions, dreams, and goals? If just the thought of these questions gives you anxiety, then you're not alone.  When I realized that I had gone from burnout to complete identity crisis, I had NO clue what was next for me in life.  And while I'm still a work in progress myself, the best thing I ever did for myself is to give myself permission to explore the other options that didn't even exist 20 years ago when I decided on my career path in the first place!

This is the topic this week on The Millennial Reset, with Kali Wolken (therapist turned career coach for millennials).  We discuss:

  • 😨 The fears and narratives that keep us stuck in our comfort zones, including the narrative that tells us it's too late and too expensive to change directions.
  • 🗺️ Low-risk ways to explore new and old passions that could lead to new or alternative career paths.
  • 🔑 Tips for how to start small, without quitting your job or diving in head first.

Join us, as we learn to redefine what the future may hold for us and reframe our identities around work and careers.

    23:14||Season 3, Ep. 2
    Millennials did everything right and still ended up burnt out, anxious, and wondering: “Is this really it?”If you’re a millennial feeling disconnected from yourself after burnout, this episode is your soft landing.In this episode of The Millennial Reset, “Finding Purpose After Burnout: A Millennial’s Search for Something More,” we're unpacking why purpose feels so hard to access in your 30s and beyond and why it’s not a “purpose problem,” it’s often identity exhaustion from years of performing, proving, and chasing approval.This episode reframes “finding your purpose” as something you build (not a magical thing you discover overnight), and gives you three simple purpose practices you can start using immediately, even if you’re still in a demanding job or messy middle season.In this episode, we discuss:Why millennials feel stuck after burnout (even when life looks “successful”)How hustle culture + conditioning disconnect us from what feels meaningfulWhy purpose isn’t pressure, it’s permissionHow to rebuild self-trust and direction without a five-year plan3 Purpose Practices (quick check-ins):Alive vs. Approved: Does this make me feel alive or just approved?Energy ROI: Will this give me energy back or take more than it gives?10-Minute Curiosity: Ten minutes a day of something with zero productivity expectation (no monetizing, no side hustle).You don’t need to reinvent yourself. You don’t need to “find yourself.” You just need one honest moment of curiosity and a path back to you.Check out the website to learn more about Peter's book, and support community on Patreon, "Club Chrysalis" (for those in their messy middle):https://www.themillennialreset.comMillennial Strong Hoodie: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4408162776/millennial-strong-hoodie-sweatshirt?sr_prefetch=0&pf_from=shop_home&ref=shop_home_active_3&frs=1&logging_key=f9a263f174cbee2ed466b1a05a25201ea2c2b5af%3A4408162776

  • 14. The Legacy of Millennials: Breaking Generational Cycles

    50:10||Season 2, Ep. 14
    Send us a textAs millennials that have experienced one setback after another, many of us may feel a little disheartened as we fail to achieve some of the exciting life milestones that we thought we'd have by now.  With housing costs and the cost of living in general becoming more and more out of reach, we may never achieve the same American Dream that we were sold.  But maybe our legacy isn't about success as we were raised to understand it! Maybe our legacy is making sure that the destructive patterns that were passed down to us from generations before don't get passed down to generations after us.  That's the topic of this week's episode of The Millennial Reset- what it means to break the cycle and raise the next generation based on a framework that stems from self-expression, self-worth, and what's true today, instead of what we've been conditioned for in the past.  We're joined once again by licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Abena Berry, as we break down three important concepts:Understanding how trauma gets passed down from one generation to another, oftentimes completely unconsciously.Self-help techniques to begin uncovering some of the conditioning and subconscious programming that may have gone unnoticed until now.How to make sure that toxic generational patterns don't get passed down to our children by effective modeling.  You can follow Dr. Berry on TikTok and check out her new book on Amazon. Support the showvisit www.themillennialreset.com/podcast to subscribe and listen to all episodes.
  • 13. Millennials and Our Changing Relationships: It Starts with You!

    42:22||Season 2, Ep. 13
    Send us a textWhen you change, everything and everyone else around you changes, too.  This includes your relationships with family, friends, work, and YOURSELF! In this week's episode of The Millennial Reset, we're joined again by one of our millennial mental health besties, Lindsey Lopez, to have the real conversations around our changing relationships as we grow into our 30s.  This includes:The relationships with our parents.  Depending on your relationship thus far, this might look like setting stronger boundaries or learning how to let go of resentment and forgive our parents for not knowing any better.The relationships with our friends.  As we grow out of our 20s, where many of us were conditioned to compare ourselves to others and have larger friend groups, you may begin to crave deeper connections with fewer people.  This shift is one of quality over quantity.  The relationship with work.  After having spent so many years focused on climbing the corporate ladder, this may look different.  Either we've seen the benefits of this, and decide that the effort is worth the reward.  Or, we might start climbing back down that corporate ladder so that we can finally focus on our own dreams and goals and build a stronger identity outside of a job title.The relationship with ourselves.  Nothing changes until you change.  That change can feel extremely uncomfortable since it goes against everything you were taught and learned so far. As we continue to take the scary steps to get back in touch with our authentic self, one of the most important parts of this healing journey is how we treat ourselves.  Join us, as we have the conversation out loud that so many tired millennials are having to themselves.  Looking for that next level of support in your healing journey?  Join the 30-day Millennial Mindset Challenge! Support the showvisit www.themillennialreset.com/podcast to subscribe and listen to all episodes.
  • 12. The Millennial Reset Moment | Confronting the Identity Crisis that Comes with Shifting Your Life Path

    21:16||Season 2, Ep. 12
    Send us a textThis week's episode of The Millennial Reset is dedicated to all of my millennial besties that are ready to face their fears, and finally do whatever it takes to not only overcome burnout, but to give yourself permission to do things differently!  It's for those that are either just getting started with their "reset" moment, or in the trenches of doing the inner work as we speak. I share my 3 big tips for what to anticipate and how to navigate the murky waters of changing your life from the inside OUT:Rest.  And then rest more.  The complete and utter exhaustion that comes with burnout recovery is actually expected (and not a bad thing).  It means that your body is finally entering into parasympathetic healing mode, where your immune system and physiological processes begin to return to homeostatis, which takes time!  Rather than getting caught up in your thoughts that tell you that you're lazy or too unproductive, just allow yourself to rest without guilt and shame! Start with Intentions (instead of goals).  Goals tend to create more added pressure that can cause us to slip back into fight or flight. When we start with intentions, or how you want to FEEL, we can begin to make decisions based on emotions instead of thoughts.  You can always start with the goal, but then ask yourself "why" five times to start getting down to the root emotion. Gift Yourself with Emotional Experiences. Once you identify your desired emotion, it's up to you to start giving your brain the experiences to realize that emotion time and time again.  When you create your desired emotion internally, this has a profound impact on the resulting thoughts and actions.  Rather than trying to change our THOUGHTS, which requires incredible self-discipline, we can simply give ourselves experiences that make us feel the way we want to feel, so that our brain becomes more and more wired for that feeling and the associated mindset.  If you're looking for that added extra level of support, check out my 30-day Millennial Mindset Makeover Challenge! Support the showvisit www.themillennialreset.com/podcast to subscribe and listen to all episodes.
  • 10. Changing Millennial Perceptions of Self Care: 3 Tips for Prioritizing Yourself

    17:51||Season 2, Ep. 10
    Send us a textWhat's the last thing you did for YOU, and nobody else?  If your response to that question is filled with crickets, then this week's episode of The Millennial Reset is meant for you.  I'm sharing my three big (and simple) tips for how to start taking better care of yourself, even when your mind talks you out of it.  The 3 tips for putting yourself first:Understand the concept of source vs. resource.  In other words, becoming fully aware of the age-old adage of "put your mask on first before assisting others".Shift the internal narratives around "rest".  Most of us were told growing up that "rest is lazy", which created the conditioning that keeps us all addicted to stress. So, we talk about how to shift the narrative from "rest is lazy" to "rest is productive" and giving yourself opportunities to prove that this is true to your brain that is always trying to seek out evidence of what you tell it.Talk to yourself like you'd talk to your best friend. The way that we speak to ourselves (whether out loud or in our own head) has a drastic impact on how our brain becomes wired over time.  When you start speaking to yourself with more compassion and grace, you begin creating a sense of safety for your nervous system from the inside out! Check out the full episode and start creating new habits and routines that work for YOU!  If you're looking for that added extra level of support, check out my 30-day Millennial Mindset Makeover Challenge! Support the showvisit www.themillennialreset.com/podcast to subscribe and listen to all episodes.
  • 9. The Millennial Journey of Rediscovering Your Authentic Self: What It Means to "Find Yourself" Again

    01:00:19||Season 2, Ep. 9
    Send us a textIn this week's episode of The Millennial Reset, we're joined by licensed clinical psychologist, and mental health contributor to Good Morning America, Dr. Abena Berry, to learn what the heck it even really means to "find yourself" after decades of conditioning and "masking up" to fit with societal expectations.Millennials have always dreamed of a life with more purpose and creativity, but that's a real challenge when we've spent so many years of our adult lives walking around pretending to be an imposter of what we were taught about success and happiness.  Dr. Berry provides us with a few valuable tips to guide us millennials through this healing journey of getting back to your authentic self:Learning never stops. Learning about yourself is an ongoing journey. We struggle, we grow, we learn, and we CHANGE.  New learning and insights come with embracing the learning in times of change. You are not your conditioning. Psychology has already shown us that we are NOT born as blank slates, but that is how we are raised by default.  Our parents and society "program" us based on what they think will help us, but in reality, it keeps us living in a confined box, rather than living our lives true to US. YOU are the new parent. We can live our lives waiting on someone else, such as our parents, to change, or we can assume the responsibility of becoming the new parent to your brain that you always needed.  Do a values inventory, check-in with your beliefs, and start being kinder to yourself! Reparent yourself for the way you want your brain to be wired, instead of the way it got wired by others. Bottom line, there's nothing to "find" when it comes to your authentic self.  It's in you and always been in you, but you just have to uncover it first.  That's where the true inner work happens!
