Rich Roll and Julie Piatt will tell you straight up, they don’t have a “perfect” relationship. (Who does?!) But after spending time with them, I can tell you — this conscious couple is inspiring as heck, and there is so much we can learn from them about how to navigate through life as a duo. I was determined to get to the bottom of what makes these guys tick, so boy did I ask them some juicy questions in today’s podcast episode.

You’ve probably heard of Rich before. His story is an epic one: after finding himself sedentary and overweight in middle age, he overhauled his life at age 40, adopted a plant-powered whole foods diet and reinvented himself as an ultra-distance endurance athlete. His inspirational memoir FINDING ULTRA: Rejecting Middle Age, Becoming One of the World’s Fittest Men, and Discovering Myself was an Amazon #1 best-seller and has inspired thousands across the world to embrace a plant-powered diet. Rich is a frequent guest on CNN, was named one of the "25 Fittest Men in the World" by Men's Fitness and is the host of his own chart-topping podcast. As if that’s not enough, he’s also a graduate of Stanford University and Cornell Law School, and an inspiration to people worldwide as a transformative example of healthy living.

If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of discovering Rich’s partner Julie and her work, you’re in for a treat. Julie has spent decades traveling many paths and studying many traditions. She is a true renaissance artist who expresses her creative voice as a plant-based chef, singer-songwriter, yogi, sculptor, painter, spiritual guide, and homeschooling parent to four children.

Together, these two are a powerhouse of conscious living, soulful connection, and straight-up full-blown love. Being in their presence (even though it was long distance!) it was obvious how aligned they are, and how special their energy is… and I couldn’t wait to ask them the hard questions to uncover their secrets!

If you’re keen to deepen your connection with your partner, lean into love, and learn some crazy-effective skills for navigating through life as a couple, this conversation is for you.

In this episode we chat about:

  • Their epic love story and how they got to where they are today (06:04)
  • How the masculine and feminine plays out in their relationship (11:59)
  • How Rich dealt with stepping into the role of a step parent (16:36)

  • 686: Dr Shefali on The Truth About What Screens Are Doing to Kids

    41:38|
Your child’s brain is being shaped by a screen more than by you. And it’s happening in tiny moments you barely notice. The “just five minutes.” The quick reset. The quiet in the back seat. But those minutes add up. And they teach your child what comfort is. What connection is. And where to go when they feel bored, restless, lonely, or overwhelmed. In this episode, we get brutally honest about technology, children, and self-worth. We unpack what constant stimulation can do to a child’s nervous system, identity, and sense of belonging. And we talk about what builds real connection instead. I also share what it’s been like raising my children without screens, why we chose that path, and what it has taught me about boredom, creativity, presence, and trust. This isn’t about demonising technology. It’s about awareness and intention. Because our children don’t need more stimulation. They need more presence. • 684: Become Your Highest Self (Guided Meditation)

    15:12|
This meditation is an invitation to come home to who you truly are, not who you think you should be, not who the world has asked you to become, but the most grounded, expansive, loving version of you. Your highest self already exists within you; she is calm, she is clear, and she is deeply connected to her intuition and her truth. In this episode, I guide you through a gentle yet powerful meditation designed to help you embody that version of yourself right now, not someday, not when you’re “ready,” but today. This is a practice you can return to whenever you feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or unsure of your next step, and it’s especially supportive if you’re calling in more alignment, confidence, self-trust, or inner peace. Find a quiet space, get comfortable, and allow yourself to fully receive as you move through a grounding practice to settle your nervous system and arrive in the present moment, a guided visualisation to connect with your highest self and her energy, an opportunity to embody clarity, confidence, and calm at a cellular level, gentle prompts to anchor this version of you into everyday life, and a feeling of deep nourishment, alignment, and inner safety.Head to www.melissaambrosini.com/684 for the show notes.Join my newsletter: www.melissaambrosini.com/newsletterGet my FREE ZenTone Meditation: www.melissaambrosini.com/zentoneFollow me on Instagram: @melissaambrosini
