Man Pleads Guilty to Fire-Related Charges, Placed on Probation

Vince Hildestad, a 54-year-old Madison man, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges related to setting his apartment on fire. He was accused of negligent handling of burning material, criminal damage to property, and three counts of disorderly conduct. The felony arson charge was dismissed. Hildestad was placed on three years of probation, with conditions including no contact with his former street, no fire-starting items, drug paraphernalia, or controlled substances. He must also undergo psychiatric evaluation and treatment if needed, and his DNA will be kept on file.
