Hollywood mourns the loss of veteran television actor Ed Wheeler, best known for his roles in the iconic legal drama Law & Order. Wheeler, who was 88, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family and loved ones, following a long and illustrious career in the entertainment industry.

With over six decades in the business, Wheeler became a household name for his portrayal of hard-hitting detectives and no-nonsense authority figures. His recurring role as Lt. Frank Calloway in Law & Order cemented his status as a TV legend, earning him praise from critics and fans alike for his gritty performances. Throughout his career, he appeared in numerous television shows, movies, and theater productions, leaving behind a rich legacy of work.

Born in Brooklyn in 1936, Wheeler began his acting career in the late 1950s, gradually climbing the ranks in both television and stage productions. His versatile talent allowed him to navigate between dramas, thrillers, and comedies, although he will be forever remembered for his work in crime dramas.

Wheeler's Law & Order co-stars have paid tribute to him, with many calling him a mentor and a true professional. "Ed was a force of nature on set," said long-time co-star Sam Waterston. "He brought authenticity to every scene and was always generous with his wisdom."

In addition to his acting career, Wheeler was an advocate for the arts and spent his later years mentoring young actors. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, two children, and four grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be private, with a public memorial service planned for later this month.
