The United States has reported that North Korea has allegedly deployed approximately 10,000 troops to Russia in support of its military operations. According to senior officials, this significant manpower transfer is part of an emerging alliance between Moscow and Pyongyang, which has raised new concerns among Western nations regarding the scope and intentions of North Korea’s military engagements abroad.

According to intelligence sources, North Korean soldiers may be involved in logistical and support operations rather than front-line combat. The alleged deployment follows a series of meetings earlier this year between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, during which the two nations reportedly explored areas of military cooperation. Reports indicate that North Korea has also supplied Russia with artillery shells and military equipment, potentially bolstering Russia’s sustained offensive capabilities amid ongoing Western sanctions.

US officials condemned the deployment, noting it could complicate diplomatic efforts in the region and destabilize East Asian security. Additionally, the US Department of Defense has emphasized that such alliances could pressure NATO to re-evaluate its support systems in Europe and may also influence strategies in the Pacific.
