Former President Donald Trump has signed an executive order in 2025 aimed at restricting gender-affirming medical treatments for minors, a move he describes as necessary to "protect children from chemical and surgical mutilation."

The order effectively bans healthcare providers from performing gender-affirming surgeries or prescribing puberty blockers and hormone treatments to individuals under the age of 18.
