In a controversial move, U.S. President Donald Trump has issued an executive order directing the United States to prioritize the refugee resettlement of South Africans of European descent. The policy, announced on February 9, 2025, has sparked intense debate both domestically and internationally.
Trump, justified the decision by citing concerns over alleged discrimination and land seizures targeting white farmers in South Africa. “We must stand against persecution wherever it occurs, and we will provide safe haven for those who are being unfairly treated,” Trump said in a statement.
