Nigeria Floods Kill at Least 30, Displace Over 400,000
In a devastating turn of events, widespread flooding across Nigeria has claimed the lives of at least 30 people and left more than 400,000 displaced. Torrential rains over the past week have inundated major regions, causing rivers to overflow and triggering flash floods that have destroyed homes, farmlands, and critical infrastructure.
The hardest-hit areas include parts of Adamawa, Anambra, and Kogi states, where thousands of families have been forced to flee to makeshift shelters. Relief efforts are underway, but the overwhelming scale of the disaster has strained local resources. Government officials have declared a state of emergency in affected regions and are coordinating with international aid agencies to deliver food, water, and medical supplies to displaced communities.
"These floods are unprecedented. We need urgent support to assist the victims and prevent further loss of life," said the Nigerian Red Cross in a statement, urging for more global assistance.
