Lebanon PM forms new government, pledging reforms
Lebanon’s Prime Minister has officially announced the formation of a new government, vowing to implement crucial reforms to tackle the country’s deepening economic and political crises. The long-awaited cabinet reshuffle comes after months of negotiations and growing public frustration over government inaction.
In his address to the nation, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for economic recovery, anti-corruption measures, and structural reforms to regain international confidence. “This government is committed to implementing necessary reforms, restoring stability, and improving the lives of Lebanese citizens,” he stated.
The new cabinet includes a mix of technocrats and political figures, aiming to strike a balance between international demands for reform and Lebanon’s complex political landscape. Key positions in finance, energy, and justice have been filled with individuals expected to lead efforts in tackling corruption, stabilizing the currency, and negotiating with international lenders.
Lebanon has been grappling with one of the worst economic crises in its history, marked by soaring inflation, a collapsing banking system, and widespread poverty. The international community, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has conditioned financial aid on the implementation of long-overdue reforms, including measures to curb corruption and improve governance.
Public reaction to the new government remains mixed. While some view it as a step toward stability, others remain skeptical, citing previous unfulfilled promises. Protesters have already taken to the streets, demanding transparency and immediate action.
As Lebanon faces an uphill battle to recovery, the success of this new government will depend on its ability to implement real change and restore public trust in the state’s institutions.
