Heavy rain batters South Korea's Capital
South Korea is experiencing severe weather conditions as heavy rain continues to batter the country, particularly impacting a border city and parts of the metropolitan areas. The downpour, which began early this morning, has led to significant disruptions in daily life, with widespread flooding reported in several regions.
In the border city of Paju, located near the North Korean frontier, residents are grappling with extensive flooding. The torrential rain has caused rivers to overflow, inundating streets and residential areas. Emergency services are actively working to manage the situation, providing assistance to those affected and working to clear waterlogged roads.
The metropolitan areas of Seoul and Incheon have also been hit hard, with several major roads closed due to flooding. Public transportation has been disrupted, with delays and cancellations affecting both buses and trains. Authorities have issued warnings for residents to avoid unnecessary travel and to stay alert for further weather updates.
The South Korean government has mobilized disaster response teams and is coordinating with local officials to address the immediate impacts of the storm. Measures are being taken to mitigate damage and ensure the safety of affected communities.
Meteorologists predict that the heavy rain is expected to continue throughout the day, with the possibility of additional downpours in the coming hours. Residents are advised to monitor weather alerts closely and to prepare for potential further disruptions.
