Central Beirut was rocked by an Israeli airstrike late last night, marking the first time in nearly a year that the conflict has directly impacted Lebanon’s capital. The airstrike, which targeted what Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) described as a "Hezbollah command center," hit a densely populated area, causing widespread destruction and panic among residents.

The attack comes as tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have escalated over recent months, following a series of border skirmishes and missile launches. According to Lebanese officials, the strike killed at least 12 people, including civilians, and injured dozens more. Rescue teams are still combing through the rubble to search for survivors.

Israeli authorities stated the strike was a response to an increasing number of cross-border attacks by Hezbollah, who they accuse of using civilian areas as cover for their military operations. “Our actions are a necessary defense against Hezbollah's escalating provocations and threats to Israeli security,” said an IDF spokesperson.
