Bella Hadid Breaks Silence on Adidas Olympics Shoe Controversy, says she is 'shocked'
Supermodel Bella Hadid has finally addressed the controversy surrounding her involvement with Adidas' latest Olympic shoe campaign. In a recent interview, Hadid expressed her surprise and disappointment over the backlash, stating that she was unaware of the underlying issues that have sparked public outcry.
The controversy erupted after Adidas unveiled its exclusive Olympic shoe line, which included a limited-edition sneaker designed in collaboration with Hadid. Critics quickly pointed out that the shoes, priced at over $300, were being manufactured in factories where workers allegedly faced poor working conditions and inadequate pay.
"I was genuinely shocked when I learned about these allegations," Hadid said. "I entered this project with the intention of celebrating athletic excellence and supporting the Olympic spirit. If I had known about these issues, I would have never agreed to be part of this campaign."
Hadid emphasized that her involvement was strictly limited to the design and promotional aspects of the shoes. "My team and I were not involved in any discussions about the production process. I plead ignorance to any unethical practices associated with the manufacturing of these shoes," she explained.
In light of the controversy, Hadid revealed that she has reached out to Adidas executives to seek clarity and discuss possible actions to address the concerns raised by the public. "I am committed to using my platform to advocate for transparency and ethical practices in the fashion and sportswear industry," she said.
Adidas has yet to release an official statement in response to Hadid's comments. The company has faced increasing pressure from human rights organizations and consumers to improve the conditions in its supply chain.
As the controversy continues to unfold, Hadid's candid admission and call for accountability could mark a significant turning point in the ongoing debate over ethical practices in the fashion industry.
