105-Year-Old Celebrates Milestone Achievement as She Earns Master's Degree from Stanford
In an inspiring testament to lifelong learning, 105-year-old Mary Phillips walked across the stage at Stanford University this Saturday to receive her master’s degree in Education. Phillips, the oldest person to ever graduate from Stanford, earned a standing ovation from fellow graduates, faculty, and the audience, highlighting a moment of profound accomplishment and resilience.
Born in 1919, Phillips has witnessed and experienced many of the 20th and 21st centuries' significant events and changes. Her journey back to academia began nearly a decade ago when she decided to pursue a lifelong dream of earning a higher degree. “I’ve always believed that learning should never stop,” Phillips said in her commencement address. “Education is the key to understanding the world, and it’s never too late to follow your dreams.”
