The Little Things

It's been a bugger of a year so Kiki and Kate have got together for a special Christmas episode of The Little Things. Merry Christmas one and all!

Kate and Kiki are going on their summer break, but before they jet off, they bring you the final episode of this first season of The Little Things, and its a Q&A special... you asked, so they answered! From where the idea for the podcast dropped, to where and how they record, to what they’re going to bring to your ears when they return with Season Two, the friends reveal all on their first 10 weeks of #podcastlife. It might be a wrap for now, but they’ll be back before you know it!

Just as Boris announces we should return to work, Kiki and Kate decide it’s time for their summer break! In the penultimate episode of Season 1 of The Little Things, the friends reflect on what they have learnt and achieved during the lockdown period. Kiki is almost good enough with the hairdressing scissors to open her own salon and Kate, well, she’s still single, still desperate and still on the hunt for Mr Right. Unfortunately he’s not in the text next door, but he might be in France...

After last week’s telling off, Kiki and Kate decide to educate themselves on Ofcom’s ranking of swear words, and are intrigued by the inclusion of ‘ginger’ and ‘beaver’. Kiki takes a trip to London and eats out for the first time in over 100 days, whilst Kate spends her birthday week at home playing more tennis and doing yoga. For Kate’s big day, Kiki gifts her with a surprise message from a C-list celebrity... who could it be?!

It's a tale of opposites this week. For Kate, it’s all about the little wins from her week in Norfolk: sun-kissed skin and salty hair. Meanwhile, it’s all about the little fuckups for Kiki: sunburn and a near-death encounter with foxes. And just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, a special guest (aka. Kate’s mum) makes an appearance to advise them on their use of swear words. It’s probably the most mild episode yet...

With lockdown measures relaxing, and friends making their way back to London, Kiki and Kate debate whether they’ll soon follow suit, or will leaving the little things they’ve learnt to appreciate at home be too much to handle?There’s a lot for Kiki to update Kate on this week, and we can’t decide whether it’s the podcast’s position in the chart, or the potential for Kate’s love life that is more exciting...

This week, when an Amazon package arrives for Kate’s dad, the last thing she expects to find inside is a selfie light - what is Mr Harrison up to?! Meanwhile, Kiki is beside herself at messages sent to a London hotel concierge and is excited to launch an application for Kate's virtual love life. Both friends reminisce about the little things they miss about the days before Covid: hugs, drunken nights out and snogs on the dance floor.

It’s all about the little discoveries for Kiki this week, having come across Kate’s village Facebook page (thus the news of a stolen riding hat) and the hilariously sassy letters she wrote to her sister aged nine. From Kate we hear about the little silver linings that come with a continued lockdown: the ability to get away with a once-weekly hair wash, and the extension of time to find a date for her sister’s wedding...
