This Catholic mother of 8 had 2 priests and 1 nun- here’s how she did it

Season 6, Ep. 602
•

SSPX priest Fr. Lawrence Novak joins John-Henry Westen to share the life and recent death of his 93-year-old mother, a woman whose determination to preserve the traditional Catholic faith shaped a family of eight children that produced two priests and a religious sister. Fr. Novak was at his mother's side when she died after receiving the Last Rites and the Apostolic Blessing. He credits her faith and perseverance with profoundly influencing the vocations and families that emerged from her children.

Fr. Novak tells the story behind his book A Chicago Mom and the Fight for the Catholic Faith, how his parents navigated the upheaval surrounding Vatican II, removed their children from Catholic schools they believed were becoming corrupted, and eventually helped preserve the Traditional Latin Mass through the Society of St. Pius X. Central to the story is an extraordinary memory from his mother's childhood: around 1940, a priest warned her First Communion class that someday "the Mass is going to be taken away from you" and that they would have to find the true Mass themselves, more than twenty years before Vatican II.

A mother's faith. A family's perseverance. And a prophecy that came true. The Church is in crisis. But faithful Catholic families are the answer. And this mother of eight proved it, one child at a time.

  • 601. Open Letter to J.K. Rowling: Why She Must Become Catholic

    31:01||Season 6, Ep. 601
    J.K. Rowling has publicly admitted she has a "God-shaped vacuum" inside her, and has struggled with religious faith since her teenage years. John-Henry Westen responds with an open letter, praising Rowling for standing by her convictions on sex differences and opposing assisted suicide. Her willingness to defend unpopular truths, he argues, reflects a deeper search for meaning. Rejecting God leaves a spiritual void that society attempts to fill with false beliefs and harmful ideologies.Drawing on Blaise Pascal's idea of an infinite abyss and St. Augustine's reflection that "our hearts are restless until they rest in God," Westen presents Christianity as the answer to both personal doubt and cultural confusion. He makes a case for the truth of Christianity, pointing to biblical prophecy, the historical claims surrounding Jesus Christ, the endurance of the Catholic Church, and the moral transformation Christianity brought to society. Faith is not opposed to reason. Evidence and rational reflection lead to a decision that requires personal assent and divine grace.John-Henry connects themes in the Harry Potter books, particularly Lily Potter's self-sacrifice and the biblical quotations in Deathly Hallows, to Christian ideas of love, sacrifice, and the triumph over death. Rowling wrote about a love that conquers death. That love has a name. The episode concludes with a direct appeal for Rowling to embrace Catholicism, especially the Eucharist, and a request for Catholics to pray for her conversion. The vacuum in her heart is not a mystery. It is a hunger for God. And the answer has been waiting for her all along.HELP SUPPORT WORK LIKE THIS: https://give.lifesitenews.com/?utm_source=SOCIAL U.S. residents! • 600. Priest: Leo Won’t Do Pachamama in Peru. He’ll Let Others Do It.

    31:34||Season 5, Ep. 600
    Ahead of Pope Leo XIV's planned visit to Peru, Peruvian canon lawyer Msgr. Ricardo Coronado-Arrascue joins John-Henry Westen to discuss the controversy surrounding Pachamama and indigenous religious practices. Coronado describes Pachamama as rooted in pre-Christian Andean religion and argues that a modern "indigenous theology" has attempted to elevate indigenous culture alongside the Gospel, producing religious syncretism.Asked whether Pope Leo might participate in a Pachamama-related ceremony during his visit, Coronado says he does not expect that to happen. Leo is careful about his public presentation, even as he advances controversial policies through appointments and other figures. He won't do Pachamama. He'll let others do it.The interview turns to allegations surrounding Pope Leo's handling, while Bishop Robert Prevost, of an abuse case involving a Peruvian priest. Coronado alleges that Prevost failed to pursue an adequate canonical trial and discusses a new book that he says reveals connections among the accused priest, Prevost, and a cleric who later became Prevost's secretary. Coronado emphasizes a crucial canonical distinction between dismissal from the clerical state and a dispensation, arguing that the latter allowed the underlying allegations to avoid the scrutiny of a trial. These are serious contested allegations presented by Coronado, not independently established findings.The question is whether the truth will emerge before the visit—or whether it will be buried beneath the pageantry. The allegations are serious. The Pope is coming. And the faithful deserve answers.HELP SUPPORT WORK LIKE THIS: https://give.lifesitenews.com/?utm_source=SOCIAL U.S. residents! • 599. Here is What the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart will Look Like

    42:11||Season 5, Ep. 599
    John-Henry Westen examines Our Lady of Fatima’s promise that “in the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph” and explores what that triumph could look like in the world and in the Church.Drawing on the Fatima message and Sister Lucia’s memoirs, John-Henry explains the connection between the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart, Russia’s conversion, and the promised period of peace. He argues that the triumph will also involve a widespread revival of devotion to the Immaculate Heart through consecration and reparation, ultimately leading to a renewed recognition of Christ's social kingship.Looking to Portugal, Austria, and Spain as historical examples, John-Henry examines how Marian devotion and national consecration have been associated with Catholic renewal and major periods of social and political change. He then considers what this vision could mean amid the present crisis in the Church, including repentance, the restoration of Catholic liturgy and discipline, and renewed recognition of Christ’s kingship.John-Henry concludes with the First Saturday devotion, Confession, Communion, the Rosary, and meditation offered in reparation, as a concrete response to Our Lady’s requests at Fatima and a source of hope for the eventual triumph of the Immaculate Heart.HELP SUPPORT WORK LIKE THIS: https://give.lifesitenews.com/?utm_source=SOCIAL U.S. residents! • 597. Fr. Isaac Relyea: “Pope Leo XIV Is a Heretic” – Silence of the Shepherds Invites Damnation

    53:14||Season 5, Ep. 597
    Traditional Franciscan priest Fr. Mary-Isaac Relyea joins John-Henry Westen to address what he describes as a crisis of silence within the Catholic hierarchy. Drawing on St. John Eudes and St. Gregory the Great, Relyea argues that priests and bishops have a grave obligation to defend Catholic doctrine and warn souls against sin. He sharply criticizes Pope Leo XIV and other prelates whom he believes have failed in that responsibility, a failure that, he warns, invites damnation.The discussion addresses reception of Holy Communion, homosexuality, modernism, Vatican II, and the SSPX. Relyea argues that Catholics must remain faithful to what they understand as perennial Catholic teaching even amid opposition from Church authorities or their own families. The silence of the shepherds is not neutral; it is complicity.Relyea turns to the spiritual practices Catholics need to persevere: the Rosary, the sacraments, spiritual Communion, mental prayer, penance, fasting, and studying the lives of the saints. Mental prayer is an intimate conversation with God. Intellectual knowledge of the faith is not enough—Catholics must live it through prayer and heroic virtue.On the SSPX controversy, Relyea rejects warnings that Catholics associated with the Society are endangering their salvation. He defends resistance to commands he considers contrary to the faith and urges Catholics not to succumb to fear of persecution or condemnation. The silence must be broken. The faith must be defended. • 596. The Miracle That Paved the Way for Fulton Sheen’s Beatification

    37:31||Season 5, Ep. 596
    Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen's beatification is approaching, and the story behind it is miraculous. John-Henry Westen speaks with Al Smith, a Canadian plumber who had never heard of Sheen and became one of his most dedicated promoters. Smith discovered Sheen through his writings, brought his talks to radio and seminaries, republished his works, and eventually served with the Sheen Foundation. He highlights Sheen's Marian and Carmelite spirituality, his commitment to the Holy Hour, and his determination to bring souls to Christ.But the most extraordinary part of the story is James Fulton Engstrom, the child whose approved healing was attributed to Sheen's intercession. The newborn showed no signs of life for 61 minutes as his family prayed for Sheen's intercession. Then his heart began beating again. He suffered no brain damage. Now 15 years old, he will process Sheen's relics at the beatification ceremony.Sheen was not simply a celebrated Catholic broadcaster. He was a spiritual teacher whose writings, devotion to Our Lady, Eucharistic spirituality, and zeal for souls can continue forming Catholics into disciples today. The miracle paved the way. The beatification is coming. And the question is whether a new generation will discover the teacher who never stopped pointing to Christ.Learn more at: www.celebratesheen.com & www.bishopsheentoday.comLife Site News supporters can get a 25% discount when they use the promo code Sheen25 at checkout at www.sophiainstitute.com to get the book! • 595. Billions of Years or 6,000? The Great Debate on Creation vs Genesis

    01:49:03||Season 5, Ep. 595
    A first-of-its-kind debate on the John-Henry Westen Show: does accepting a universe billions of years old contradict a faithful Christian interpretation of Scripture?Ed Mazza and astronomer Dr. Hugh Ross defend the proposition that it does not. Mazza argues the Church distinguishes the essential doctrine of creation from questions about how and over what period it unfolded—citing St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, Pope Leo XIII, the Pontifical Biblical Commission, and Pope Pius XII. Ross approaches the question scientifically: distant galaxies, stellar development, and radioactive decay demonstrate immense cosmic ages while remaining compatible with belief in God as Creator.Hugh Owen and Dr. Kevin Mark counter that Scripture, the Church Fathers, Catholic liturgy, and traditional teaching support a universe created less than 10,000 years ago. Owen argues Genesis records genuine history and that the supernatural work of creation cannot be reconstructed by extrapolating present-day natural processes backward in time. Mark challenges the Big Bang model and conventional dating methods, while Ross disputes the young-universe scientific arguments.Make the switch today to iCatholicMobile today!iCatholic Mobile—supporting the Catholic faith with every connection.https://www.facebook.com/icatholicmobile https://www.icatholicmobile.com/ HELP SUPPORT WORK LIKE THIS: https://give.lifesitenews.com/?utm_source=SOCIAL U.S. residents! • 594. Catholic Children in the Holy Land Suffer Persecution

    26:13||Season 5, Ep. 594
    Jason Jones traveled to southern Lebanon with his 18-year-old son on a humanitarian mission to assist vulnerable Christian communities caught between Israel and Hezbollah. They slept in villages while nearby bombing repeatedly shook their building. They traveled through dangerous territory and passed the aftermath of deadly attacks. Through the Vulnerable People Project, Jones's team visited isolated Christian villages, organized festivals for hundreds of children, celebrated the Feast of the Assumption with local Christians, and developed a plan to help these communities survive the coming winter.Jones describes what he says is the destruction of Christian villages, churches, crucifixes, and religious images by Israeli forces, comparing some of the desecration he witnessed to what he previously saw after ISIS attacks in Iraq. Ancient Christian communities in Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank are being abandoned while trapped between competing regional powers.Jones calls on American Catholics to use their political influence and resources to defend them. He urges Christians to overcome internal divisions and develop a lasting "habit of solidarity" with persecuted Christians around the world. The children are suffering. The churches are being destroyed. The faithful are being abandoned. The question is whether American Catholics will respond, or remain silent while the Holy Land's Christians disappear. The time for solidarity is now.Make the switch today to iCatholicMobile today!iCatholic Mobile—supporting the Catholic faith with every connection.https://www.facebook.com/icatholicmobile https://www.icatholicmobile.com/ HELP SUPPORT WORK LIKE THIS: https://give.lifesitenews.com/?utm_source=SOCIAL U.S. residents!
