Staffing Company Owner Arrested for $90M IRS Fraud

Orange County Staffing Company Owner and Three Others Arrested for Allegedly Defrauding IRS of $90 Million An Orange County staffing company owner, Lorena Padilla, and three others were arrested on federal charges for allegedly cheating the IRS out of over $90 million. The money was reportedly used for luxury vacations, homes, and rental properties. Padilla faces charges including wire fraud and money laundering conspiracy. Her daughter, brother, and another man were also arrested, while two others are expected to appear in court soon. The defendants are accused of not only defrauding the IRS but also numerous clients by failing to pay employment taxes withheld from temporary workers, many of whom were undocumented immigrants. Padilla controlled several businesses providing workers and human resources services, but allegedly defrauded clients and the IRS from 2012 to 2024. If convicted, the defendants could face decades in federal prison.
