Stephen was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 70 (in 2025) after undergoing immunotherapy treatment for melanoma.In an extremely rare outcome, the treatment that helped fight his cancer also triggered an autoimmune reaction that destroyed his pancreas’ ability to produce insulin.
