Passage West native George McGarry studied cabinet making and worked in Cork for six years before emigrating to Australia where he worked in carpentry before eventually starting his own construction business over 10 years ago.
In this episode of the ieBusiness podcast, George reflects on his journey from being a contractor building extensions and renovations to running his own construction business in Sydney. He discussed how the business has expanded to handle multimillion euro projects that run over a year and a half and how he hopes to focus on the developing market for sustainable builds in Australia.
Speaking to reporter Emer Walsh from a “toasty” Sydney, George also has plenty of advice for would-be emigrants to the country he has made home.
