Jesus, if his life and teachings are to be seen as legit, also emphasized the kingdom of heaven is within—suggesting that higher awareness and higher order truth are not something external to us, but embedded within our own nature and consciousness. True awareness teachings seek to liberate humanity from the external control mechanisms of religious dogma and divine authority, which often seek to keep humanity in a state of fear, obedience, and separation from their higher order nature.
