Raised in New York, salsa and bachata were not only a part of Christien’s cultural experience, they were a part of his daily life. Christien danced and trained within the New York salsa community for many years before relocating to Connecticut. When he observed a gap in the Connecticut salsa community, both in size and vibrancy, Christien sought out to create the community that he wanted to belong to. In 2022, he launch Acacia Latin Dance Company. Acacia Latin Dance Company specializes in salsa on2 and bachata dance instruction.
