On Faith, Sustainability and…Heavy Metal? with Voice of Baceprot

Season 2, Ep. 2

Indonesian heavy metal band Voice of Baceprot are the most pint sized heavy hitters you will ever meet. Coming from their hometown of Singajaya in West Java, Marsha, Siti and Widi have toured the world - gracing the likes of Glastonbury, SXSW, F1 and spreading their unique message of peace that comes from a very personal place. Drawing on their own personal experiences to speak on faith, sustainability and female empowerment in their music, these girls have taught me that anyone with a voice can make a change. Welcome VOB to the fluffle podcast!

P.S. Please enjoy this special Earth day episode 🌳

  • 4. Can music and A.I. Harmonise? with Anie Fann

    32:19||Season 2, Ep. 4
    Singapore based Taiwanese-Canadian singer-songwriter Anie Fann has carved a niche for herself within Taiwan’s indie scene as an artist who is as genre-bending as she is cerebral. Preferring to focus on modern problems that society presents us rather than stock-standard themes of romance and fluff, the inquisitive singer-songwriter has in the last few years begun exploring the digital ethics of technological innovation and more interestingly, A.i. A polarising and vast topic whose possibilities threatens to simultaneously overtake and boost human creative potential to the next level, we picked Anie’s brain on her relationship with A.I., and how she sees it transform our relationship with our creative selves. 40:55||Season 2, Ep. 3
    Upon meeting Toronto based alt-pop singer songwriter Chara Kai Le for the first time, it felt like we had known each other forever. A third culture kid who has grown up in Singapore, Malaysia and Gloucester, we immediately bonded over our shared third culture kid identity. Chara shared with us her experiences navigating this through her music, and how her perspective on this has evolved since her debut in 2020. 26:45||Season 2, Ep. 1
    On this very special first episode of season 2 of the fluffle podcast, the tables have turned. Instead of me interviewing a fellow woman in music, I’ll be interviewed by our audio editor Small FRY, a dear friend who also wears multiple hats as a DJ, radio host and artist manager. We talked about all the bits of advice I’ve given over the first season of the podcast, and why drawing on my own inner strength has been such a key part of my own story through all my endeavours. Welcoming you, our dear listeners to the first episode of season 2 of the fluffle podcast!Podcast CreditsExecutive Producer & Host: Jocelle KohAudio Editor: Vivan Vo / Small FRY Marketing, Social Media & Production Assistance: Joon Shan KokMedia Partners: Asian Pop Weekly, Asian TonesSupported by Tunecore Background Music: “Solo Dates” by FIGFollow Jocelle on Instagram: @jocellekohFollow Small FRY on Instagram: @smallfryhqFollow fluffle on Instagram and Tiktok: @fluffle.asiaFind all episodes of the fluffle podcast here:https://fluffleasia.com/the-fluffle-podcast/If you're looking to distribute your music and retain 100% royalties, sign up for any Tunecore paid plan and get 35% off with the promo code FLUFFLE26. • 10. On staying warm like the sun with Valentina Ploy

    32:17||Season 1, Ep. 10
    When I first met Thai-Italian singer-songwriter Valentina Ploy, the thing that stood out to me the most was her warm, genuine energy that infected every room she was in. An artist that truly wears her heart on her sleeve, she has gone from strength to strength, gaining significant support for her music digitally, to opening for Coldplay last year. Now as an independent artist, we chatted to her in Bali at AXEAN festival about how she continues to keep her heart open despite the challenges life throws at her. And as the finale episode to the first season of the fluffle podcast, THANK YOU for sticking around. Drop us a comment on who you’d like us to interview in season 2 or what topics you’d like me to discuss! We love you! • 9. On returning to oneself with Anna Chong莊啓馨 (中文)

    42:19||Season 1, Ep. 9
    My conversation with Malaysian singer-songwriter Anna Chong caught me completely off guard. What started off as a casual conversation about her trip to Singapore turned quickly into a deeply existential conversation about Anna’s relationship with her artistry as a musician with over 16 years of experience under her belt. It seems her relationship with her artistry not only sustains her financially and physically, but is just as much an important spiritual lifeline for her. The only catch is - we did this interview fully in Mandarin. So for those who can speak Mandarin, 我們要開始練習中文啦!For those who don’t, scrub to 33:52 for a tldr reflection from me in English about the interview! • 8. On being cute, chaotic and critical with Amber Akilla

    45:58||Season 1, Ep. 8
    In the heat of summer I made my way to one of my favourite cities in the world, Shanghai to interview one of my favourite all time podcast hosts and creators, Amber Akilla. DJ, music curator, host of the friend crush podcast, Amber is iconic for her radical perspectives on feminism, culture and her life philosophy of being hot and having fun which has sparked many an interesting discussion on the possibilities for women and queer individuals in today's society. While it was the first time we've met in person, we connected deeply on our roots growing up in Perth, Western Australia and our views on navigating the music industry and life as individuals from the diaspora. So excited to share this super fun conversation with you, and welcome Amber Akilla to the fluffle podcast!Follow Amber Akilla on Instagram: https://instagram.com/amberakillaFollow friend crush on Instagram: https://instagram.com/friend.crushFollow Amber Akilla on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@amberakilla?_t=ZS-8zUJR7ZGzOy&_r=1Follow fluffle on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fluffle.asia/Follow fluffle on Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@fluffle.asiaIf you're looking to distribute your music and retain 100% royalties, sign up for any Tunecore paid plan and get 35% off with the FLUFFLE promo code. • 7. On transformation & picking up the pieces with Jaguar Jonze

    36:13||Season 1, Ep. 7
    Jaguar Jonze is a longtime friend, whose titles are getting longer each time we meet. A Taiwanese Australian independent singer songwriter, visual artist, photographer and now certified freediving instructor, her message of empowerment is one that ties closely with her lived experience, as she continues to inspire audiences with her ability to balance vulnerability and strength in her work. On this episode of the podcast, she got vulnerable with us about how recent health issues have pushed her past her lived limits, to embrace uncertainty, brokenness and her humanity in life-changing ways. Jaguar's art has often revolved around finding light in the darkness and beauty in broken pieces; here she reminds us of what a transformative act mending yourself can be, even when you don't feel broken. The biggest and warmest welcome for Jaguar to the fluffle podcast!Follow Jaguar Jonze on Instagram: https://instagram.com/jaguarjonzeFollow fluffle on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fluffle.asia/Follow fluffle on Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@fluffle.asiaIf you're looking to distribute your music and retain 100% royalties, sign up for any Tunecore paid plan and get 35% off with the FLUFFLE promo code. • 6. Putting the 'art' in artist management with Mia Min Yen

    23:55||Season 1, Ep. 6
    While many others in the Taiwanese music industry may know Mia Min Yen aka 'Taiwan Mama' for being a powerhouse supporter of exporting Taiwanese music globally, to me she's a treasured long time friend and mentor. As one of my oldest friends in the music scene, Mia has taught me so much about what it means to support other women in music, not only through words, but action. This is a quality of hers that has allowed her to be adored by many of the globally established acts she works with such as 9m88, Sunset Rollercoaster, Elephant Gym and ØZI. This is the same quality that has given her the tenacity to hold Taiwanese Waves, a festival dedicated to showcasing Taiwanese music in New York's Summerstage for five years running now. We finally caught up in Taiwan, and after a decade of friendship, it's feeling like a full circle moment up in here.
