They hit on the Canucks and Predators series, which Frank is in attendance for. The Canucks are on their third goalie of the series as they head into game five. Will they be able to survive the rash of injuries?

The Dallas Stars also got a massive game-three victory on the road in Vegas with Wyatt Johnston coming through as the hero.

From there, the Bruins stars have delivered for them through four games but the same cannot be said about the Leafs. Frank and Jason gave their thoughts on the state of the Leafs heading into game five.

What will the Minnesota Wild look like next season, and how good is Brock Faber?

Doug Armstrong has a ton of work to ahead of next season, but his hands are tied with the NTCs attached to Colton Parayko, Justin Faulk, Torey Krug, and Nick Leddy.

  • 314. The Offseason Kicks Off With A Bang!

    47:23
After a wild Wednesday full of activity around the NHL, it’s safe to say that the offseason is officially here. Jason and Frank kicked off the podcast by breaking down the biggest shocker of the day: the deal that sent Pierre-Luc Dubois to the Washington Capitals in exchange for Darcy Kuemper. For Dubois, it’s yet another change of scenery in his young career. Will this finally be the wake-up call that he needs to become a more consistent player? Jason talked about that. Is this a good move for the Los Angeles Kings? Frank explained why he likes the move for GM Rob Blake. From there, they dug into the Jacob Markstrom trade that went down earlier in the day. This is a deal that almost went down at the trade deadline, and Frank explained that, but now the trade is official and Markstrom is a member of the New Jersey Devils. Did the Flames get enough for a legit 1A starting goalie? The guys debated that.Frank wrapped up the trade talk with an update on how the rest of the goalie market could shake down. They then dug into the Barclay Goodrow situation that played out this week. The player is reportedly upset with how the New York Rangers handled things, considering he had a no-trade clause. The guys explained why he shouldn’t be and talked about the other trade that the Sharks made yesterday. To wrap up the show, Tyler hopped in for a Stanley Cup Final themed edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about McDavid’s Conn Smythe case, Bobrovsky’s struggles, and whether or not this series is ending on Friday.1:50 - PLD for Kuemper14:20 - Markstrom to the Devils25:30 - Goalie market update32:40 - Buy or Sell on the Stanley Cup Final41:40 - Hronek stays in VancouverWant to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? • 313. The Cup Final is Going Back to Florida

    48:29
The Stanley Cup Final is still alive as the Oilers ran the Panthers out of the building in Game 4 on Saturday night. Frank and Jason kicked off the podcast by talking about the 8-1 beatdown in Edmonton and if the Oilers can roll any amount of this momentum into Game 5 back down in Florida. From an Oilers perspective, they may have started to figure out how to beat Sergei Bobrovsky and they scored eight goals with a few of their big guns, namely Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman, still staying quiet. They could have more to give but the same could be said for the Panthers, who can likely rely on a much better goaltending performance in Game 5 and have a few of their stars who will be looking to bounceback. The guys focused in on Matt Tkachuk, who has been very quiet all series. Has he been a disappointment or has he done enough away from the scoresheet to be a factor? The guys debated that and talked about which star players will come through in Game 5.From there, they got to Tyler and a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked them about the future of Leon Draisaitl in Edmonton, this years free agent crop, and a handful of General Managers in the Eastern Conference who are facing some pressure this summer.0:45 - Oilers win Game 411:35 - Game 5 expectacions13:40 - Conn Smyth race28:20 - Fill in the Blank (Oilers extensions, Eastern GM’s, big free agents)Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? • 312. Breaking Down The Trade Targets Board

    46:16
Frank and Jason are back with a new episode of The DFO Rundown and to lead today’s show: the Edmonton Oilers are on their last leg. They started the podcast by breaking down what we saw in Game 3 last night as the Panthers jumped out to a big lead and then managed to just hang on for the victory.Frank said watching the Oilers this series has been like a plane crash with the number of things that have gone wrong. Jason thinks it’s been more on the fact that Sergei Bobrovsky has been on a whole different level so far in this series. Will the Oilers be able to push this series back to Florida? They wrapped up their Stanley Cup Final discussion with that question. They got to Tyler and a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about some of the new names on Frank’s Trade Targets list and the number of buyouts we could see this summer. Patrik Laine is apparently looking for a fresh start, but how hard will it be for the Blue Jackets to move him? The Blues could be looking to really shake up their roster over the next month or so with players like Brandon Saad and Pavel Buchnevich on the board. Also, Frank gave us 9 potential buyout candidates, will a majority of them actually get to that point? After that, they dug a little bit more into the Pierre-Luc Dubois situation and if a buyout is actually a possibility. They also talked about Jakob Chychrun and his availability in Ottawa plus if they’d be willing to consider a buyout of Joonas Korpisalo. That led to some talk about the goalie market. They wrapped up with a conversation about the St. Louis Blues management plan with Alex Steen set to take over for Doug Armstrong in 2026, that was also coupled with an extension for Armstrong to remain as the President of Hockey Operations until 2029.0:30 - Stanley Cup Final talk8:34 - Will it be a sweep?11:05 - Buy or Sell (Laine, St. Louis, Buyouts)23:25 - Will Dubois get bought out?28:50 - Chychrun rumours & Korpisalo35:35 - The goalie market & Ullmark42:40 - Blues management planWant to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? • 311. Bobrovsky Steals Game One of The Stanley Cup Final

    53:19
Jason Gregor and Frank Seravalli are back with a Monday edition of the podcast as they recapped Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. They broke down how things played out in the series opener as the Panthers jumped out to a 1-0 series lead.Sergei Bobrovsky was electric, posting a shutout that featured more than a handful of jaw-dropping saves. What can the Oilers do to solve him? Gregor actually noticed some adjustments that the Oilers made.Frank also shared his major takeaways from each side. For the Oilers, he was impressed with the fact that the moment didn’t seem to big for them. He also liked that they were able to push the pace of the game. From the Panthers side, even though they didn’t have their best game, they got a win. They can be better and they also have the better goalie. They also talked about the very physical start of the series and how things will continue to play out in that department.Looking ahead to Game 2, the Oilers could be looking to make some changes with their lineup. Could Vincent Desharnais draw in? Will Head Coach Kris Knoblauch make any other lineup changes? The guys debated that.Away from the Stanley Cup Final, the big news of the weekend was the Washington Capitals' purchase of the popular salary cap website CapFriendly. With the sale, the site will be shut down on July 5th. Frank talked about what a massive loss this is for not just fans and media, but other teams around the league.Tyler also swung by for a new edition of Fill in the Blank, brought to you by Wendys.0:40 - Bob steals Game 19:50 - Game 1 takeaways13:00 - Oilers lineup changes17:30 - CapFriendly sold to the Capitals23:30 - Fill in the Blank29:30 - Jake Guentzal’s rights36:00 - Is Chicago a fit?45:00 - Marner updateWant to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? • 309. The Stanley Cup Final is Set

    44:28
The 2024 Stanley Cup Final matchup is set as both the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers punched their tickets to the big dance with victories on home ice this weekend. Jason and Frank started the podcast with a quick conversation about how these two teams stack up against each other. On the other side of the big wins of course are two gut-punch losses for the New York Rangers and Dallas Stars. The Rangers core seems pretty set and they should run it back, but GM Chris Drury has some tough calls to make when it comes to extending a few young players. On the other side, the Dallas Stars have a few older players, like Joe Pavelski and Matt Duchene, who they need to make decisions on. The guys debated that. From there, they circled back to the Panthers and talked about what makes them successful. Are they similar to Dallas? Or do they present different challenges to the Oilers?Tyler also swung by for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about when the NHL season starts, touching the Conference Finals trophies, and which team the guys are watching the closest heading into the summer. Tyler is keeping an eye on the Blackhawks while both Jason and Frank had different answers. To end the show, they gave their Stanley Cup Final picks.1:15 - The Stanley Cup Final is set7:35 - Rangers & Stars road ahead21:50 - The Panthers' strengths26:00 - Importance of a strong blueline31:40 - Buy or Sell37:00 - Who to watch this summer?41:45 - Stanley Cup Final picksWant to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? • 308. Who Has The Edge in Each Conference Final?

    47:37
The 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs just keep on getting better and better. Both the Eastern and Western Conference Finals are down to best-of-three’s and there has been a lot of drama in each series. Both Frank and Jason were out in Edmonton last night as the Oilers came from behind to win Game 4 against the Dallas Stars. There were plenty of positives to pull from the victory for the Oilers and on the other side, the Stars were dealt a massive blow as Chris Tanev didn’t play the third period after blocking a shot. Frank talked about how significant that loss could be.They also praised Head Coach Kris Knoblauch for his timely adjustments ahead of the game.Out East, the series is tied 2-2 heading back to MSG for Game 5. The Panthers have undoubtedly been the better team but Igor Shesterkin has evened things out and kept the Rangers in a lot of these games. Jason also praised the strong play of Alexis Lafreniere while also talking about how badly the Rangers need their star forwards to find their games. They also took a look at the coaching market as the Seattle Kraken officially introduced Dan Bylsma as their second Head Coach in franchise history. That means the San Jose Sharks are the only team with a vacancy behind their bench.Tyler returned to the show for a new edition of Fill in the Blank presented by Wendys. He asked the guys about a couple of the more interesting names that popped up on Frank’s first Trade Targets board of the offseason.3:30 - Oilers grab momentum12:40 - Can the Rangers find their game?20:00 - Benn’s impact & Hintz’s return25:50 - Kraken hire BylsmaWant to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? 50:25
Jason and Frank are back with a fresh edition of The DFO Rundown to get you through your Thursday. Jim Hiller is staying put in Los Angeles as the Kings announced that they’ll be removing the interim tag from his title. What does that mean for the future of the Kings? They discussed.Sheldon Keefe was not a free agent for long. He’s now officially been announced as the new Head Coach of the New Jersey Devils. Is he the right man to lead the Devils back to the playoffs? From there, they got into the two Conference Finals. They started out in the Eastern Conference where Sergei Bobrovsky pitched a shutout in Game 1 as the Panthers took the series opener. They debated whether or not the Panther's speed and physicality would be too much for the Rangers. They then went into the Western Conference where the Oilers and Stars are getting set for Game 1 out in Texas.
