Ex-Unemployment Worker, Ex-Boyfriend Sentenced for $250K Fraud

Former Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency worker, Timeka Johnson, and her ex-boyfriend, Ray Anthony Eddington, have been sentenced for their roles in a fraud conspiracy. Johnson, who pleaded guilty to aggravated identity theft and wire fraud, used her job access to create fake claims in others names, dismissing fraud alerts, uploading false documents, and certifying ineligible claims as legitimate. Eddington, who pleaded guilty to wire fraud, was responsible for withdrawing the fraudulent benefits. Together, they were ordered to pay back over $250,000 in restitution. U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon and FBI Special Agent in Charge Jennifer Runyan emphasized the severity of their actions, which harmed the communities relying on unemployment resources.
