Nightlife is too expensive and cyclists should pay road tax?!

Ep. 404

Has Singapore’s nightlife reached the point of no return? Are the $300 drinks at rooftop bars no longer worth it for Gen Zs? Should cyclists pay mandatory road tax?

In today’s podcast, we take a deep dive into two trending topics: the gradual decline of Singapore’s once-vibrant nightlife and the rising tension between cyclists and pedestrians in Singapore.

We first take a look at why Singapore clubs, including icons like Zouk, MARQUEE and Drip, are starting to lose their appeal to Singaporean Gen Zs and millennials. We explore the key reasons behind this changing trend, including the expensive drinks, health concerns from staying up late at night, the negative effects of alcohol consumption, and the lockdown period during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Then, we participate in the ongoing debate about "entitled" cyclists in Singapore and why recklessly disregarding cycling rules, especially when cycling on roads and pedestrian walkways, is a huge safety concern that needs to be addressed quickly, like how license plates can be mandated for all bicycles by Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) to ensure accountability and encourage responsible cycling.
