The Chipping Forecast
Drinking with Baboons
Season 1, Ep. 106
•
This week, Eddie is fighting fatigue after returning from Kenya and is also tired from grappling with golfing demons. We hear where he is with his game, what's next for him and how he did at least manage to buy the friendship of wildlife. The three discuss the win for Brian Campbell on the PGA Tour, talk about one of the best swings in the game and hear from Europe's new Ryder Cup captain Anna Nordqvist. They also discuss drinking while playing golf, but decide that it is neither big nor clever.

175. BONUS - The Players and the Foursomes
48:49||Season 1, Ep. 175A bonus episode to bring news ahead of The Players Championship and at the end (for Eddie and Andy Murray at least) of the Sunningdale Foursomes.Eddie, Andrew and Iain discuss Brian Rolapp's ideas for the PGA Tour and Rory's back injury as well as Eddie's chances of a trip to China and a very honest interview from Gary Woodland on his psychological struggles.
174. Ramble, Big Man, Ramble.
01:13:49||Season 1, Ep. 174With Iain somewhere en route to the Players Championship, it's up to Andrew and Eddie to hold the fort this week, which they don't technically manage to do as Andy Murray scales the walls to join in and look ahead to the Sunningdale Foursomes. There is also conversation about Eddie's performance in Johannesburg and how he can carry the solid form of his South African trip forward when he has little competitive golf coming up, except to partner with a former tennis player against the man who was once the best youth golfer in Europe. The wins for Dan Bradbury, Akshay Bhatia and Jon Rahm are also discussed, while they wonder if there should be concern about the form of Scottie Scheffler or the injury to Rory McIlroy. The answer is probably no, but serious worries remain about the number of dogs heading for Sunningdale.Brought to you by: www.petermillar.co.ukVisit: www.ping.comInstagram: @chippingforecastEmail: tcf@thechippingforecast.co.uk
173. Stop Jumping, Jen.
01:22:59||Season 1, Ep. 173HAIL THE CONQUERING HERO... except for the four players ahead of him whom he didn't quite conquer. It was a great weekend for Eddie though as he finished 5th in the South African Open and is still in Stellenbosch to give us all of the details, including a hot putter, an unplanned equipment change and a caddie who simply enjoys it all too much. There is also discussion of Shane Lowry's meltdown at the end of Cognizant Classic in Florida and his admirable post-round chat with the media. The three then talk about the layers which are now clearly forming in the professional game and find time to praise the talent in British Women's golf as well as Chris Wood on the MENA Tour. They then wonder if Andy Murray will lay on a private jet to get Eddie back in time for a practice round ahead of the Sunningdale Foursomes. If he doesn't, he's just not taking it seriously.Brought to you by: www.petermillar.co.ukVisit: www.ping.comEmail: tcf@thechippingforecast.co.ukInstagram: @chippingforecast
172. Life Choices, LIV Choices.
01:16:28||Season 1, Ep. 172This week two become three again as Iain returns from his travels to tell us that he's going travelling again, but also to join Andrew in asking Eddie if he thought he should have made more of an effort in getting to Kenya. There then follows a series of reflections on what Eddie - and indeed all humans - want from life.In golfing terms they discuss Jon Rahm's refusal to pay his fines and whether it leaves him out in the Ryder Cup cold, Jacob Bridgeman's win at Riviera, Nelly Korda's stay-at-home attitude and Eddie's preparations for the SA Open at Stellenbosch.Peter Millar Journeyman sneakers: https://www.petermillar.co.uk/p/journeyman-sneaker/ma26ef31_LGPWT.html?dwvar_ma26ef31_color=LGPWTVisit: www.ping.comInstagram: @chippingforecastEmail: tcf@thechippingforecast.co.uk
171. Kim, Collin and Karen
01:09:41||Season 1, Ep. 171Reasons to be cheerful this week. Not - you will be unsurprised to hear - from Andrew, but from Eddie who, despite a tough final round on the greens of Fancourt is bullish about his form. The two of them discuss that, as well as an incredible performance from Anthony Kim providing LIV, for all their millions spent, with their greatest story. There is also mention of Collin Morikawa getting back to winning ways at Pebble Beach and Charley Hull making house alterations after her triumph in Saudi Arabia. Then Andrew takes a lemsip-inspired deep dive into the the rich history of Karen Country Club, where Eddie is among those playing in this week's Magical Kenya Open.Visit: www.petermillar.co.ukPing Prodi G clubs at: www.ping.comEmail: tcf@thechippingforecast.co.ukInstagram: @chippingforecast
170. Reed it and Weep.
01:07:01||Season 1, Ep. 170Still just a two-ball this week where Eddie reflects - in a surprisingly positive way - about his MC in the Qatar Masters and he and Andrew both wax lyrical about the golfing talents of Patrick Reed who, having defected from the Saudi Arabian collective, simply romps around the rest of the Middle-East. With Eddie travelling all day on Monday it was a Sunday recording of the pod, so it's left to Andrew and Mabel (sorry Richard) to chat about Chris Gøtterup's latest win, in Phoenix. There is also mention for the biggest prize of the week going to one of the youngest players - Elvis Smylie won the LIV opener in Riyadh in front of a crowd approximately the same size as the audience annoying Eddie in a Doha cinema.Visit: www.petermillar.co.ukPing WebFit at www.ping.comEmail (all views welcome): tcf@thechippingforecast.co.ukInstagram: @chippingforecast
169. Frazzled, Fried and a Bit Lost
01:04:41||Season 1, Ep. 169This week Eddie has arrived in Qatar ahead of his return to the tour and Andrew has arrived in some sort of work purgatory. However, both still find the time, if not the energy, for a paean of praise to Justin Rose following his dominant win at Torrey Pines. They also wonder if Patrick Reed might win another major after his departure from LIV and question the decision to curtail a tournament on the LPGA Tour.Brought to you by: www.petermillar.co.ukVisit: www.ping.comEmail: tcf@thechippingforecast.co.ukInstagram: @chippingforecast
168. Not Yet Better Than Sergio.
01:10:42||Season 1, Ep. 168Fresh from a top 5.....0 place in Dubai, Eddie has to first of all explain his broken wedge and grazed knuckles, but then he and Andrew pick over a result that still shows plenty of encouragement for the year ahead. Meanwhile they run out of things to say in admiration for Scottie Scheffler after he returns to golf and gets straight back to winning ways. They run out of things to say in general if we're honest, but there is consideration for Eddie starting a TGL golf team and an acknowledgement that Laurie Canter will not be signed up by a Saudi Arabian darts league.Brought to you by: www.petermillar.co.ukAnd: www.ping.comEmail: tcf@thechippingforecast.co.ukInstagram: @chippingforecastWatch Eddie's final round in Dubai: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFGWbbDYpwI
167. One Down, Two to Go.
01:11:02||Season 1, Ep. 167And thus, the Carter-less weeks begin. With Iain on his travels, Andrew and Eddie are left to stumble forward like Bill Oddie and Tim Brooke-Taylor without Graeme Garden, but fortunately there is plenty to talk about - Eddie is now preparing to start his 2026 golfing year at the Dubai Desert Classic and has a new caddie into the bargain. There are changes on LIV with exciting new names and players, Marco Penge has new clubs, Scottie Scheffler is coming out of hibernation and Andrew has misplaced a Wellington.www.petermillar.co.ukFor the new Ping G440 K driver, visit ping.comEmail: tcf@thechippingforecast.co.ukInstagram: @chippingforecast
