Conor Tallon caught up with John Breen to find out about a new book launch in the city this week!

Two artists come together in the Lavit Gallery in a joint exhibition called "Civilisation Blooming". Elmarie went along to the launch to meet Deirdre Frost and Seiko Hayase.

Iconic. A word thrown around a lot these days, but genuinely applicable in the case of Rory Gallagher's stratocaster. It's coming up for auction this autumn and Sheena Crowley of Crowley's Music Centre is leading the campaign to buy the guitar for Cork. She spoke to Elmarie Mawe.

You may never have heard of Gunther Berkus, but those who knew him recognise the impact he had on, and the support he gave to, the Arts in Cork. And in his memory and to raise money for MS Ireland, a completely once-off event is going to happen in Cork on Saturday September 7th. Elmarie Mawe spoke to Roger Gregg, who was a great friend and collaborator of Gunther's.

He was chatting to Elmarie.

What Happens In Cork -- well we all know it's something special. And Hank Wedel's new album with that brilliant title was celebrated in studio with Elmarie on Sunday.

Thomas McCarthy is one of Ireland's most respected writers Waterstones in Cork is where his new book "Questioning Ireland" will be launched on Sept 3rd at 6.30pm. Questioning Ireland is a lucky bag of commentary gathered from sources as varied as The Irish Times, the Dublin Review of Books, PN Review , a Cork City Planning Department Document and Facebook. Interrogating the legacies of Northern writers and the Southern "Ascendancy" it attends to literary works as well as the visual arts with partiucular focus on figures from the author's native Waterford and adopted Cork.
