The Art of Lifting

For this episode I was joined by Kjell Bakkelund. We talked through his decision to stay -66, his thoughts on how athletes are currently tapering into competition (or lack of tapering), the issues with social media and peoples enjoyment of the sport, plus more.

This week I was joined by Evan Hawk where we discussed his coaching and his goals as an athlete. Evan has seen great growth in his coaching and the calibre of his athletes over the past year and we discussed the experiences he's had, what's coming up and his approach to coaching, as well as discussing the likelihood of Will Ball hitting 1000kg at 93kg

This week I was joined by Joshua Wright who has an incredible record of achievements within Powerlifting and shows no signs of slowing down as he continues to compete within the Open class even now he's reached the Masters. Joshua has recently gone up a weight class, having achieved some incredible things in the -74's, it's now time to see what he can achieve as an -83kg.

This week I was joined by Elliot Sykes, we discussed A LOT, starting with IPF Worlds and some of Elliot's favourite moments as a fan, but then talking through how he would have to be the number one lifter in the world just to qualify for the world championships, we spoke through his ability to compartmentalise and continue working towards these huge goals, and his growth as a person as he's grown up in this sport.

This week I was joined by Alex Cano, where we discussed his two silver medal clients at the IPF Open World Championships, as well as how he felt game day coaching on the worlds stage, why Mike Slabic dropped his final pull, and some programming and coaching discussions around self correction and when self correction should be leant into versus when it leads to issues.

This week I was joined by Matt Gary, current Team GB Head Coach, where we discussed some of the highlights from IPF Worlds, we also discussed a big talking point of this worlds which was the American coaching team criteria. We spoke through some of the controversial refereeing decisions and ideas to help solve that, and more.

This week IPF Classic Worlds has arrived, and to celebrate I've decided to post daily recaps of the Prime Time Battles and other talking points taking place. In this episode I recap the incredible battles of the 84+kg & 120+kg weight classes
