Feminist foreign policy with Louis Reitmann
In the first episode of season 2, podcast host William Alberque dives into the intricate world of feminist foreign policy and its impact on nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament.
William Alberque is joined by Louis Reitmann from the Vienna Centre for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP), along with two VCDNP colleagues, Mara Zarka and Federica Dall’Arche to explore the evolving concept of feminist foreign policy, its roots, and its implications for global security and nuclear weapons policy. The discussion sheds light on the origins of feminist foreign policy, highlighting Sweden's pioneering role and examining how various countries interpret and implement these policies differently. The guests discuss the challenges and opportunities feminist foreign policy presents in dealing with nations that do not share similar values, particularly in the realm of arms control and disarmament. The conversation also addresses common misconceptions about feminist foreign policy and its capacity to foster inclusion.

Louis Reitmann joined the VCDNP as a Research Associate in March 2022. His areas of research are export controls; diversity, equity, and inclusion in nuclear policy; feminist foreign policy and nuclear weapons; and UK nuclear weapons policy.
