Millwall’s 2021/22 financial results covered “a strong season, despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic”, when they finished 9th in the Championship, while exiting the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup in the third round.

The club was rightly proud of “the third top half finish in a row in what is one of the most competitive leagues in professional football”, despite operating with far fewer resources than most of its rivals.

Profit/(Loss) 2021/22

Millwall reduced their pre-tax loss by £1.2m from £13.8m to £12.6m, as revenue rose £6.1m (49%) from £12.5m to £18.6m. However, this was partly offset by other operating income dropping from £2.1m to £1.3m, while player sales generated a £0.1m loss compared to prior year’s £0.7m profit. Operating expenses were £3.4m (12%) higher.
