Indian Wells - Dream Draper & Andreeva soar to new heights in desert, Miami Open preview
JACK DRAPER! Need we say more. Ok if we must… We’re halfway into the Sunshine Swing and it’s been a very memorable couple of weeks for two individuals out in the desert of Palm Springs at Indian Wells. Join Joel, Kim and Chris as they get giddy with excitement over how the Brit secured the biggest title of his career to date whilst moving into the Top 10 rankings for the first time, in help thanks to a semifinal win over Carlos Alcaraz. The trio also ponder whether he is a genuine Major contender, could it happen at Wimbledon and is an ATP Tour Finals appearance on the cards.
And it was just as blockbuster in the women’s event as Mirra Andreeva kept up her hot streak with back-to-back W1000 titles by getting the better of World Number 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the final. The gang discuss just where the seventeen (!) year old sensation could go next and whether a No. 1 ranking is possible this season. They also look at what’s going on with Iga Swiatek as she let frustration spill out onto court with a ball bash towards a ball boy that left her without reaching a tour level final for ten months and counting.
We also look ahead to the Miami Open with mens and womens draw previews, the usual spicy predictions and discuss Rafael Nadal’s sit down chat with Andy Roddick and decide for ourselves just what was Rafa’s second best surface. He thinks grass - we’re not so sure. Mysterious Player also returns with Joel hoping Kim doesn’t get it in such a quick time…

49:32||Season 1, Ep. 514And breathe. One of the GOAT Grand Slam finals of recent times brings the curtains down on another year of Roland Garros. It may even be just one of the best tennis match EVER. It really was that good and all the more reason to join Joel, Kim and Chris who look back on the sheer EPICNESS that was Carlos Alcaraz’s back from the brink victory over Jannik Sinner in the 2025 Roland Garros final, winning 4–6, 6–7(4), 6–4, 7–6(3), 7–6(10–2). In a gruelling five-hour, 29-minute battle—the longest French Open final in history—Alcaraz overturned a two-set deficit and saved multiple championship points in the fourth set before triumphing in a super tiebreak. The win marked Alcaraz’s fifth Grand Slam title and second consecutive Roland Garros crown, maintaining his perfect 5–0 record in major finals. The match further fueled the growing rivalry between Alcaraz and Sinner, symbolizing an emerging new era in men's tennis following the reign of the Big 3.The gang look back on the key factors playing a part in the final, what this means for Wimbledon plus the rest of the year, and compare Sinner’s reaction in defeat to that of Aryna Sabalenka from Saturday’s ladies singles final. They also round up the top moments from the men’s 2025 tournament with some more Tennis Weekly awards, reflect on some of the British success at doubles, wheelchair and junior events, and reveal the latest winner of the Collect A Set challenge, before taking a sneak preview of the grass court action unfolding at the Queen’s Club this week which sees a ladies event return to London for the first time after a very long hiatus.PROPERTY HUB INVESTIf you’re serious about property, head to https://propertyhub.net/start to take your first step.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. 37:53||Season 1, Ep. 513Goodness gracious Gauff! The American has won her first ever Roland Garros title and second overall Grand Slam singles crown with a Parisian rollercoaster of a victory against the World Number 1 Aryna Sabalenka. Join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as they reflect on the final in Paris and begin to unpack where the battle was won and lost. The duo talk about those *70* unforced errors that came off the Belarusian’s racket and what makes the Gauff match up such a tricky test for her. They question whether Sabalenka needs a better Plan B and whether the pressure of finals is having an impact with now 2 Grand Slam finals defeats in a row leaving her overall record 3-3.As for Coco Gauff, it was cool, calm and composed tennis matched by the American’s athleticism that got Joel and Chris really talking about how good she has become in these moments… at just 21 years of age. They look ahead to Wimbledon and debate what each can hope to achieve on the grass courts of SW19 with Gauff’s record best a trio of R4 appearances in 2019, 2021 and 2024. 58:55||Season 1, Ep. 512The return of SINCARAZ! Yes please. Join Joel, Kim and Chris who are back once again at Tennis weekly HQ to round up the semifinals action from Roland Garros 2025. Jannik Sinner was comfortable enough over Novak Djokovic with a clinical straight-sets victory (6-4, 7-5, 7-6), ending the Djokovic bid for a 25th Grand Slam title. With this win, Sinner reaches his first Roland Garros final, where he will face Carlos Alcaraz in a highly anticipated clash of the world’s top two ranked players. Alcaraz came through thanks to a retirement from Lorenzo Musetti earlier in the day; a disappointing end to a fantastic clay season for the young Italian. Which the lead the gang to wonder should he have retired or just completed the match?Meanwhile, Aryna Sabalenka ended Iga Swiatek’s reign in Paris with a stunning three-set upset, capped by a dominant 6-0 third set. Swiatek, the four-time Roland Garros champion, couldn’t match Sabalenka’s relentless aggression as the Belarusian powered her way into the final. Coco Gauff also ended French wildcard Lois Boisson’s Cinderella story with a commanding straight-sets win. Gauff's precision and power proved too much for the hometown favourite, and Coco will bid to win her second slam against the World No.1 on Saturday!PROPERTY HUB INVESTIf you’re serious about property, head to https://propertyhub.net/start to take your first step.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. 49:49||Season 1, Ep. 511The semi-final picture is nearly set at Roland-Garros, as Kim and Chris catch up on the Quarter Finals of Roland Garros 2025! Among the semifinalists, we see a mix of familiar faces and standout surprises. Top seeds like Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, Jannik Sinner, and Carlos Alcaraz have delivered on expectations—but it’s the emergence of local French Wild Card Lois Boisson that has captured the hearts of fans. The 21-year-old Frenchwoman, playing in her first-ever Grand Slam, continued her dream run today by upsetting teenage sensation Mirra Andreeva to book a place in the semi-finals. From unknown to unstoppable, Boisson is rewriting the script in Paris. They also discuss the lack of default for Lorenzo Musetti during his 4 set win over Frances Tiafoe after he accidentally kicked a ball thus hitting a line judge. Other players have been defaulted for less - should he have been too?Kim and Chris also discuss the ongoing debate around the lack of women’s night matches scheduled at Roland Garros, with all four women’s quarter finals being longer than the whitewash that was Carlos Alcaraz v Tommy Paul, lending further critique to Amelie Mauresmo’s comments around the rationale for night session scheduling! They also weigh in on who they think will make the finals at Roland-Garros, looking ahead to the semi finals over the coming days.PROPERTY HUB INVESTIf you’re serious about property, head to https://propertyhub.net/start to take your first step.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. 25:30||Season 1, Ep. 510Football meets Tennis as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) celebrate their Champions League Triumph at Roland-Garros as Ousmane Dembélé brings the cup to Philippe-Chatrier and Alina has a front row seat to see all the action....on the big screen. Someone who didn't even have that luxury was Novak Djokovic who was playing the Night Session match at the same time the football was on, meaning he head loud cheers every time Paris had scored and he couldn't believe they had scored 5 times against Inter to win.Alina and Chris also bring you their highlights from the week in media and the funny player interview clips that didn't make it into the pod yet, including Coco Gauff on Tommy Paul going fishing in his truck after training, Bublik calling Draper a UFC fighter and Qinwen Zheng telling the media what she gets up to in her spare time and it sounds fun, if you like dancing and singing, dancing and shopping! They wrap up the episode and their final Tennis Weekly Journal with their top tips for Roland-Garros, how to get tickets and which tickets are the best for the French Open spectaors. French Open R4 - Brilliant Bublik downs Draper, Sabalenka survives and Swiatek's great escape
01:02:45||Season 1, Ep. 509Brits, over and out. It’s been another thrilling last couple of days at Roland Garros so why not join Joel and Kim as they take stock on all the Round 4 action in Paris. Jack Draper fell to a red-hot drop shotting maestro Alexander Bublik to bring his campaign to an abrupt end whilst Cam Norrie failed to match his Geneva performance with a straight sets defeat to Novak Djokovic who won his 100th (!) singles match at the French Open.Elsewhere, Iga Swiatek brought herself back from the brink with a hard thought three set win over Elenea Rybakina. Does it prove she is still the Queen of Clay or are there bigger tests to come? And in one of the stories so far, French wildcard No. 361 ranked Lois Boisson pulled off a stunning upset over Jessica Pegula to book her spot in the quarterfinals versus Mirra Andreeva. Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka also cruised through once again without dropping a set. Joel and Kim also give a midway Collect a Set update and it’s a historic moment but not for the right reasons…PROPERTY HUB INVESTIf you’re serious about property, head to https://propertyhub.net/start to take your first step.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. 51:31||Season 1, Ep. 508Week 2 at Roland Garros is here, and Tennis Weekly has everything you need to get caught up ahead of the action in Paris. On the men’s side, Jack Draper dismantled rising star João Fonseca to join fellow Brit Cam Norrie against a backdrop of PSG football fireworks in the last 16, while Djokovic, Sinner, and Zverev cruise through — and Carlos Alcaraz survived another mid match hiccup to win through. In the women’s draw, Elena Rybakina routed Jelena Ostapenko to set up a mouthwatering showdown with Iga Swiatek, and for the first time in decades, all top 8 seeds remain in contention heading into Week 2. It was also a historic occasion for Team USA as they had 8 players into Round 4 of Roland Garros for the first time in forty years. Plus, Chris returns from Paris, with plenty of stories from the clay to share including Amalie Mauresmo's comments on the continued absence of women from the night session.PROPERTY HUB INVESTIf you’re serious about property, head to https://propertyhub.net/start to take your first step.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. 22:55||Season 1, Ep. 507Bonjour from Roland-Garros, well we should say the Jardin du Luxembourg for a special edition of Tennis Weekly Journal as Alina and Chris have ventured into the city and found the local tennis courts. On today's episode they cover the epic match between Gael Monfils and Jack Draper that lit up the Night session and Philippe-Chatrier in one of the matches of the tournament. They debate the French Open crowd, asking if they go too far after they helped a clearly injured Arthur Fils hobble over the line against an increasingly irritated Jaume Munar on Court Suzanne Lenglen. Would he have won without the crowd? Alina doesn't think so and neither does Arthur. As well as the on court action, the Night Session being exclusively reserved for Men's matches has become a hot topic once again. Will there ever be a solution and can a solution be found whilst the Prime tennis contract exists in France? Alina and Chris try to provide some context on the increasingly repetitive and polarising topic as it isn't as simple as scheduling a women's match in the night session slot.As well as the more thought provoking topics, in true Tennis Weekly Journal style there is fun to be had as Alina and Chris recount their galette experience at lunch and the debate is settled, in future it's sugar and butter for them!PROPERTY HUB INVESTIf you’re serious about property, head to https://propertyhub.net/start to take your first step.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods.
