Football is cruel, said Darren Fletcher in his pre-match conference, and it does indeed move swiftly on as United play Burnley tonight with the Ruben Amorim chapter of their history already closed. Fletcher becomes the latest former player to manage a game for the club, while the former player who did it longer than any other is now the favourite to return as caretaker.
