First Wilf McGuinness, then Frank O'Farrell and thirdly Tommy Docherty who, despite taking the club down to the Second Division in 1974, brought United back with a bang just one year later.

United's hierarchy met to discuss the events at the club, one outcome being that Luis Enrique will reportedly not be considered as the club would prefer a manager with Premier League experience to come in in the summer.
