65. Managing Shifting Baselines

Ep. 65

Post sinusitis/generic anger sinus issue my voice is weak but it made me think of how in nature (like my sinuses) you can accidentally change the baseline expectations or habituate to a new scenario by just experiencing it once. And that made me think of how valuable it is to plan ahead to help habituate clients and stakeholders to the scenario we WANT them to think of as the baseline, rather than accidentally let them experience something we will have to redress later.

    This week is a little break to reflect on some "Hard Truths with Alycia." All event sustainability professionals have the same lessons. Our solutions are harmonized and straight forward - the question is, why do we keep repeating ourselves? If everyone has hard the same 10 straight forward solutions but they are not in effect a majority of the time there must be another element holding the whole industry back...Follow @PositiveImpactEventConsulting on YouTube to get the video feed!To ask a question for a future walk email: AlyciaDrubeEvents {at} gmail.com or go to the Google Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSduKevDmLDOr2HhNORhM8giycd1VOOgYGObHXFyD_OhWFCtpQ/viewform?usp=sf_linkTo engage with Positive+Impact Event Consulting to make your Event Business and Events you work on more sustainable visit AlyciaDrube.comIf you'd like to subscribe to the podcast on your podcast app of choice check out the landing page: https://shows.acast.com/sustainable-events-dog-walk-podcastOr copy and paste: https://feeds.acast.com/public/shows/673509b204b5d35af46eb38ato your preferred podcast app.

  • 67. 67. Growth Mindset for Success

    08:20||Ep. 67
    The best tool for staying on top of a hard tasks, like with Sustainability, to make a big impact is a Growth Mindset. Basically, it is a mental framework for approaching life that helps reduce the impact of "failure" and "difficulty" by remembering and understanding that failure is inevitable but also a learning opportunity. Challenges are growth prompts that help you get better. And when working on the Progress over Perfection view on Sustainability employing a Growth Mindset means you're already prepared when you run into tougher fixes or scenarios that simply can't be sustainable this time.I also cover the avalanche of "internet experts" making you feel incompetitant, insufficient, or like you're screwing it up... IGNORE THEM. That adrenalin and cortisol does not help you learn about sustainability, it does not make you better, and it has no place in your Growth Mindset. I give you full permission to ignore the fear mongering, guilt-pushing, and whatever else is stressing you on social, as long as you are Doing the Best You Can With the Tools You Have.Follow @PositiveImpactEventConsulting on YouTube to get the video feed!To ask a question for a future walk email: AlyciaDrubeEvents {at} gmail.com or go to the Google Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSduKevDmLDOr2HhNORhM8giycd1VOOgYGObHXFyD_OhWFCtpQ/viewform?usp=sf_linkTo engage with Positive+Impact Event Consulting to make your Event Business and Events you work on more sustainable visit AlyciaDrube.comIf you'd like to subscribe to the podcast on your podcast app of choice check out the landing page: https://shows.acast.com/sustainable-events-dog-walk-podcastOr copy and paste: https://feeds.acast.com/public/shows/673509b204b5d35af46eb38ato your preferred podcast app.
