Sustainable Events Dog Walk (Podcast)
37. Charitable Donation Suppliments
Looking for a simple method to improve your sustainability metrics (in any Pillar: environmental, social/community, personal health, economic) that doesn't change your workload? Consider what The Sound Hotel in Seattle did with their Cocktails for a Cause. By doing a charitable donation profit share they:
1) Do good in the community
2) Let consumers know their company values by which charities they feature
3) Get great content for their social media - rotating menu item!
4) Encourage repeat business from locals to support the new cause each month
If you were to try something like this in your business it might look like: Pledging with 1% For the Planet {https://www.onepercentfortheplanet.org/} doing a similar monthly or annual profit % donation, pledge a flat amount or percent per contract, offer employees paid hours to donate their time, donate your time on chariable boards, feature a cause for education in your business communications, donate in-kind services to a charity as a content partnership, or something completely unique!
Remember, whether you're supplimenting what your company already does, showcasing a goal that means a lot to you from the UN Sustainable Development Goals, or using it as an offset for an area that your business doesn't normally effect or struggles to improve, charitable donations can be a GREAT way for wins all around.

57. 57. Communication - Negative vs Positive
09:38||Ep. 57A lesson from Positive Psychology - use positive framing to keep your communication concrete and improve the chances your audience remembers what you want them to know.We cover:Negation processing difficulty - the brains inclination to omit or not process negating words like "not" or "don't" and act on concrete concepts. e.g. Telling yourself "don't spill... don't spill... don't spill" while walking your full cocoa to the couch, your brain omits the modifying words and only processes "spill... spill...spill" into action.Negativity Bias - The negativity bias is a natural tendency to focus more on negative information than positive information. This bias is thought to have evolved to help us survive by making us more aware of potential threats. [source: https://traumaresearchuk.org/the-negativity-bias-understanding-and-overcoming-our-brains-tendency-to-focus-on-the-negative/]Emphasis on positive framing for comprehension and retension. Also sited: Laura Yarbrough-Lloyd and the A Flair for VIP Events podcast: https://lauralloydevents.com/Follow @PositiveImpactEventConsulting on YouTube to get the video feed!To ask a question for a future walk email: AlyciaDrubeEvents {at} gmail.com or go to the Google Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSduKevDmLDOr2HhNORhM8giycd1VOOgYGObHXFyD_OhWFCtpQ/viewform?usp=sf_linkTo engage with Positive+Impact Event Consulting to make your Event Business and Events you work on more sustainable visit AlyciaDrube.comIf you'd like to subscribe to the podcast on your podcast app of choice check out the landing page: https://shows.acast.com/sustainable-events-dog-walk-podcastOr copy and paste: https://feeds.acast.com/public/shows/673509b204b5d35af46eb38ato your preferred podcast app.
