Brimming with weird & wonderful stories, Sidney & Tony from Malmesbury (in Wiltshire) tell the incredible true stories of flying monks, witch trials and pigs on the run!

This episode features the historic town of Malmesbury, Wiltshire. We meet theatre-maker &amp; community radio host, Sidney and local historian, Tony. From flying monks to escaped pigs, Malmesbury seems to have more stories than a Brothers Grimm fairy tale book. We also take a dip into 17th century witch trials as Tony uncovers the untold tale of the Witches of Malmesbury. The first episode features Eddy from Dolton, a well-known character who moved to North Devon 37 years ago. A retired plumber, he recalls carnivals, jubilee celebrations, motorbikes, stuffed-dog doorstops and the time Charlie Watts from The Rolling Stones made him a cup of tea. Stories&nbsp;from the Sticks is a brand new podcast featuring&nbsp;stories&nbsp;from rural communities brought to you by Scratchworks Theatre. While touring our shows to remote villages around the UK, we have met extraordinary people with extraordinary&nbsp;stories. This podcast brings together the city-dwelling Scratchworks members (Sian, Alice &amp; Laura) with special guests from isolated communities who invite you into their village and share&nbsp;stories&nbsp;of love, history, local myths and community spirit, especially during this time of lock-down. The pilot was commissioned by the Northcott Theatre’s <a href="https://exeternorthcott.co.uk/the-time-is-now-artists-announced/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Time Is Now</a> Project &amp; the series is supported by Arts Council England.
