Where Do Wars Come From?

Season 3
Where Do Wars Come From?

Where do wars come from? James isn’t asking who starts wars and conflicts, he’s asking WHERE! In a forensic examination of the motives and attitudes and desires of the human heart, James gets right to the very heart of the issue, giving us an insight into the real source of war... He says, (Amp) WHAT LEADS to strife (discord and feuds) and how do conflicts (quarrels and fightings) originate among you? Do they not arise from your sensual desires that are ever warring in your bodily members?

Let’s see if there are any lessons for us,

Sermon preached at both Ballymacashon and Templepatrick Reformed Church on Remembrance Sunday 2022, recorded at Templepatrick, and used with their permission.

  • Be Ye Holy...

    24:01
Be Ye Holy...In Ephesians 5:3-5, Paul illustrates, in very stark terms, the opposite of a godly life. He speaks of fornication, uncleanness and idolatry, and covetousness, all of which were typical of the pagan lifestyle of his day. But Christians are described here as SAINTS. Why would a 'saint' need to be warned against sin? That begs the question, "What exactly is a saint?"This sermon was preached at Ballymacashon and at Templepatrick Reformed Church. • The Minor Prophets - Jonah

    25:33
The Minor Prophets - JonahJonah has four chapters, and unlike many of the other prophets, it is mostly narrative. Jonah is ‘the son of Amittai’ who also was a prophet.of course, when we speak of Jonah, the part of his story that comes to mind is that he was swallowed by a fish. "Jonah and the Whale" is a popular children's bedtime story...Some people will ask, ‘How can a man be swallowed by a fish, survive inside it for three days, and then be spewed up unharmed onto dry land? This simply can’t be true, so the story must be a myth." In this podcast we look at Jonah, seek to understand why the book is an accurate account of God's dealings with the prophet, fish and all, and see the real message of the book, - that the opportunity to repent of sin and be forgiven extends to every nation, not just to the Hebrews. But Jonah’s not altogether on board with the message...
