Why did Meri Brown remain in her troubled relationship with Kody Brown for years, even when she suspected their marriage was beyond repair? The Sister Wives star is finally explaining her reasons.

During the October 25, 2026, episode of TLC’s Sister Wives, Meri opened up during a conversation with former sister wife Christine Brown Woolley about the hopes that kept her holding on.

Meri revealed that Kody had spoken about giving their relationship a fresh start, leaving her believing things might improve. But those promises were followed by long periods of distance and uncertainty.

Eventually, Meri said she became convinced that Kody was waiting for her to end the relationship first so he could avoid being seen as the one responsible for its collapse. She admitted that stubbornness became part of her decision to stay, explaining that she wanted him to acknowledge the situation himself rather than leave her carrying the blame.

The pair had legally divorced in 2014 so Kody could legally marry Robyn Brown and adopt her three older children. However, their spiritual marriage continued for years afterward. Meri ultimately moved on after Christine and Janelle Brown also ended their relationships with Kody.

During the emotional conversation, Christine reflected on the difficulties she had witnessed in Meri and Kody’s relationship, highlighting how their dynamic changed over time.

Meri’s account offers another glimpse into the complicated relationships behind the long-running reality series—and the emotional struggle of holding onto a relationship while hoping for change.
