Sporting Misadventures with Chris Hoy

The punmaster is in the hot seat this week hitting us with joke after joke in quick succession from the pole vault to acupuncture. By his own admission, not a natural sportsman at school he was picked last at football and runs like Phoebe from Friends. Now this one was recorded a long old time ago, and you can catch him at the Edinburgh Fringe this summer.

This week Chris has found himself in the wars again with a torn meniscus in his knee. Despite that, he's still cycling from San Sebastian to Barcelona with five-time Tour de France winner Miguel Indurain for Laureus. He and Matt chat about that journey and compare notes on comedy favourites.

Joining us from The Room Next Door is this week's guest, who leapt into our lives during Covid as our favourite political advisor. Put off sport growing up by roaring older brothers, he talks Monty Python versus Match of the Day, the trauma of school PE and avoiding rugby simply by wearing glasses.

This week former Strictly Come Dancing champion Chris McCausland pirouettes onto the podcast to talk training to be a spy, his lifelong passion for Liverpool FC, the Strictly surprise and his passion for maths in sport. Plus, his book Keep Laughing is out now in paperback.
