Del & Del's Spicy Audiophilia

Aussie music special

Ep. 6

This episode Del, Della and Bard visit the cultural similarities of 'Bogan' and 'Newfie' speak. Del and Della praise their latest vinyl acquisitions - Captain Beyond's self-titled and Sleep Token's Take Me Back to Eden. The crew talk all things Aussie music, visiting Skyhooks, TISM and Paul Kelly. Plus many, many more artists. Bard is charged with homework - to make a Chris Stapleton song in the style of Bob Dylan. The hangover of the Rolling Stone Top Singers list continues to be the gift that keeps on giving, reminding us how poorly Stapleton was recognised.

Warning: some mention of self harm and addiction

    58:07||Ep. 12
    Alcohol and other drugs and certain music genres seem to go hand and hand. Addiction in any form is no joke, and many musicians have ended up in destructive awful situations as a result of their addictions. The idea of the artist 'suffering for their art' doesn't have to be the case - we recognise this more in the current day than ever. Having said that, there are certain substances that align themselves with music types. We investigate it during this podcast. We also launch our new 1-hour podcast length format. Easier to have in your ears on the go. 01:16:56||Ep. 10
    What album set you on a new trajectory? What memories are they connected to? Della tells us about the first getting of a license and country driving to a lush, dark soundtrack. If velvet could be music. Del talks about the first time he heard Queens of the Stone Age on a Saturday morning. • 9. Rage Against Rolling Stone (Again) - Best Guitarists

    02:01:44||Ep. 9
    This episode, the gang tackle Rolling Stone's Best 250 Guitarists list and come out the worse for it. This episode has everything. Bard gets twitchy over Yngvie Malmsteen, Della rages over overrated instrumentalists and Del for the most part sighs a lot and manages throw the occasional chew toy Della's way to keep her placated. • 7. From Toto to TikTok

    01:46:34||Ep. 7
    This episode Del & Del deep dive into Toto's self-titled 1978 album and pay homage to the musician's musicians. Bard joins a little later in the podcast to remind us of the sheer brilliance of Devin Townsend and his songwriting process of putting on hours-worth of POV train driving through snow videos. Then the gang venture into territory highlighting just how the delivery media of music has shaped it over the years and what the pros and cons are. However, Jones inadvertently heard a demo version of the track and thought it would be a great fit for the album.
  • 5. Vinyl smack habits

    01:15:35||Ep. 5
    Del and Della settle in for another episode, where they finish the last episode of Metal Evolution and talk all things Prog Metal. They divulge a growing addiction to vinyl records (and do not condone the 'taking lightly' around all things addiction). Talk meanders through Borderlands 2 as Del and Del are currently navigating their way through for the umpteenth time. Bard makes a great classic game suggestion and drops his 'Adventures into the Avant Garde' - a Swedish Elvis impersonator (bless).
