Ep#41 - Searching For Light (Angeline Dalmau)
What was supposed to be a quick trip down memory lane planted a seed for another life changing conversation about the constant search for light when things look dark.
Ange and I met in Australia when I was nearing the end of the AreYouMyWife journey, and by then I was already smitten with someone back in the UK who eventually became my wife.
We stayed in infrequent touch for many years after, then when I wanted to do a flashback episode for SparkHub, I thought Ange and I would chat for a “one-and-done” trip down memory lane - then a whole new series of conversations opened up.
It turned out that Ange and I had been living parallel lives; two children each, neuro-diversity in play, both of us split with the other half but still living under the same roof (for a long time) navigating so many unforeseen twists and turns.
What is more, Ange is a practicing psychologist, helping her clients seek light in their own darkness as she combats her own reality - as we all do.
Ange and I once took a road trip together in Australia many moons ago. In this episode, we drive down lots of new roads together, both looking to see where the light lies in our common circumstances.

We have experience wild changes in circumstances from the world around us, but we never forget where we started and came from.Childhood is the foundation for adulthood, and although it is cliche to say, "health is wealth."I'm wealthy because I have friends like Nav... except I found out that Nav did run a hustle when we were kids from my house that I only just learned about.Dive into more: https://www.thesparkhub.com/post/ep-40-navigating-panicked-waters-user-manual-not-included-nav-brar#podcast #sparkhub #panic #mentalhealth #friendship #family
39. Ep#39 - "Blended" Hope After Divorce (Rich Evans)
01:00:35||Ep. 39In this conversation, Rich and I discuss what happened to him when his first marriage (with two children) came to an end. There were a lot of common threads; big dreams to be one's own boss, build enterprises, have a house and a loving marriage. But life doesn't always work out as planned, so when Rich "overflowed" it forced him to make some decisions that lead to a situation where his first marriage and second marriage became a blending act.Above all, it gave me hope that - with the right choices - things can work out for the better - in life, in business, in love - even if you can't imagine they will.Dive into more: https://www.thesparkhub.com/post/ep-39-blended-hope-after-divorce-rich-evans#podcast #sparkhub #entrepreneur #business #marraige #family #divorce

37. Ep#37 - Entrepreneurial Lessons (Part 1 of 2) (Allan Wills)
40:25||Ep. 37This two part series will take you a wild ride through my past leading to how I ended up becoming an entrepreneur - and all the hard lessons learned along the way from different sources. We will weave through stories from surviving a music competition in Disney Land through to what I learned from policing and the bears of western Canada... it all ladders up to how my brother’s spirit guided me to new opportunities, and in all that, crossing characters from the "Scottish Trump" all the way to a crazy doctor from Saudi Arabia who issued death threats, and lots in between. As Steve Jobs once said in his famous 2005 speech at the Stanford commencement address, you can only understand how past life experiences (the dots) have shaped your present by looking backward; you must therefore trust that these dots will connect to form a meaningful future even when the path isn't clear.Dive into more: https://bit.ly/4mK1mMO#podcast #sparkhub #entrepreneur #business #stories #adventure
36. Ep#36 - Flashbacks from Are You My Wife? (Allan Wills)
01:05:51||Ep. 36If you’re a conscious, breathing human being like me, at some point we've all wondered how one might meet the love of one’s life? Or even if such a thing exists? This episode is a longer exploration of how I tried to answer that question over 19 years ago asking the world Are You My Wife? We get into the finer details of what happened during a quest that spanned a year of 53 dates in 13 countries. You will also get to meet Angela, a lovely Australian woman who went out of her way to help me by driving for days around Australia to help me out. And she brings back not only memories, but the reality of my mindset at the time; when I had decided I was done with had become a gimmicky love hunt... because I had actually met someone wonderful and wanted nothing more than to get back to the UK to be with her - via Thailand and the UAE... but I'm getting ahead of myself.Angela also reminds me about a promise I made, which she still intends to cash in on, all these years later. Then I reflect on my current mindset and options two decades after I took a crazy chance to find love, wondering now if lightening will ever strike twice?Dive into more: https://spkhb.co/aymw-flashbacks#podcast #sparkhub #love #areyoumywife #stories #adventure #dating
35. Ep#35 - The Power of Fables in Adulthood (Allan Wills)
28:20||Ep. 35I’m going to look through the lenses of an entrepreneur who remains ambitious but forced to be practical, as a parent who wants to leave a legacy for his kids and as former husband still living at home with his ex in a house we’re trying to sell in a recession. And my state of mind right now about all these matters… sigh …. honestly, is best expressed in the image I chose for the episode cover art; the battle between the Scorpion and the Frog. This episode will go wide and deep on how the fables I learned as a child are helping me change my behaviour as I bumble through the many trials of adulthood. And I’m sure you will relate to what you are about to hear.Dive into more: https://spkhb.co/power-of-fables#podcast #sparkhub #divorce #fables #stories #children #family #morals
34. Ep#34 - Life After Divorce (With Kids) - Part 3 of 3 (Syreeta Fonso)
30:26||Ep. 34In part 3 (the final in this series), we discuss the legal aspects of divorce, having just covered the emotional and financial aspects of the legal battles we underwent.Getting married is hard, having children is hard, being an entrepreneur is hard. But then getting divorced and raising children while trying to stay afloat is a whole other level.Syreeta and I have been friends for decades, and we live in parallel universes. We both left our own countries for the UK, we both got married, we both had kids about the same age (and almost exactly the same temperament), and we both went through divorces and the trials and tribulations of everything that follows.During my own divorce, I often spoke to Syreeta to get a female perspective on lots of different things. Our conversation for SparkHub created a 3-part series, each exploring a different aspect of what Syreeta and I went through.Dive into more: https://spkhb.co/life-after-divorce-3#podcast #sparkhub #divorce #legal #court #children #family
