Candace Johnson, co-founder of SES ASTRA and chief architect of SES Global has been doing “New Space” for the last 45 years ever since she helped create some of the first commercial satellite television and radio distribution networks in the United States in the late 70’s and early 80’s before starting already in February 1983 on the journey that would lead to her co-founding SES, the world’s first private trans-border satellite system and to her conceiving and architecting it to be one of the largest satellite systems in the world today with the purchase of GE Americom Satellites by SES in 2001. Read more about Ms. Johnson here.

He is currently Director of Technological Development of the multinational company Space Zero Gravity México, dedicated to space technology development, with offices in Provo, Utah, USA, and in the city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Mexico.He holds a Certificate of intensive training in the development of high technology using the NASA methodology in the development of Nanosatellites taught by Brigham Young University in the United States. Speaker, panelist and lecturer in various presentations, highlighting the international congress "All together in space" in 2023. In addition, he has given courses and training in space topics with optical technology and NASA methodology for project management.

Guest speaker: Matias Campos is an Ecuadorian engineer and space enthusiast. He graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (USA), obtaining his Bachelor's and Master of Science degrees in Aerospace Engineering and a Minor in Robotics Engineering. Additionally, Matias received a physics teaching license from Massachusetts. Matias started his career in Germany and then returned to Ecuador to become a space entrepreneur. Matias is the founder and CEO of Astralintu Space Technologies, which focuses on providing in-orbit services, ground segment tracking, and operations to grant space access to emerging actors in Latin America and the world. Additionally, Matias volunteers as the STEM Program Director for the Sideralis Foundation is the current Vice-Chair of the IAF Administrative Committee for Connecting Emerging Space ecoSystems (ACCESS), and is the Chair of the IAF Latin American and Caribbean Subcommittee (LAC-SC). Matias has been recognized as a Young Space Leader by the International Astronautical Federation and a Space Generation Leader by the SGAC. Through engineering and education, Matías looks to lead and promote the development of the New Space industry in Latin America so the region can attain all its benefits.
