Instead, depend on the Spirit who now lives in you. Mindset Matters📖 Scripture: Romans 8:5–6 - 5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.🧠 Explanation: Paul contrasts living according to the flesh and according to the Spirit. Those who live according to the flesh focus on earthly, selfish desires, which lead their minds toward death. Those who live according to the Spirit focus on spiritual desires that result in life and peace. The mindset we choose determines the fruit of our lives.🛠 Application: Examine your mindset regularly. The Law of Life and Freedom📖 Scripture: Romans 8:2–4 - “2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.🧠 Explanation: The law could show us our sin, but it couldn’t save us. It was meant to give us life, but it was powerless to do so because of our flesh. Thus, we were condemned (i.e., we were under the law of sin and death). Jesus came to fulfill the requirements of the law and overcame sin on our behalf by being a sin offering. Through Him, we are forgiven of our sins. We are no longer under condemnation. Set Free From Guilt📖 Scripture: Romans 8:1“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”🧠 Explanation:The gospel declares that in Christ, we are no longer condemned. This means the guilt of our past, no matter how heavy, no longer has a hold on us. Jesus took the punishment for our sins. If God doesn’t condemn us, we must stop condemning ourselves.🛠 Application:Let go of self-condemnation. Embrace your identity in Christ as someone fully forgiven.
