Close Encounters of the Third Kind You May Never Have Heard Of

Season 1, Ep. 319

On episode 319 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we explore a handful of close encounters of the third kind that have been lost to UFO history. These obscure cases show the true high strangeness that has occurred in the past, spanning decades and continents. What do these cases have in common? What sets them apart? And just exactly what happened when these individuals had a close encounter of the third kind?

Read full obituary, written by Ryan, and where donations can be made to Sue's favorite charities: https://rebrand.ly/6fq0xkeOn episode 354 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, Steve Berg returns to give his fascinating solo presentation from Anomacon 2023, titled, The Weird Stuff: The Role of Absurdity and Surrealism in High Strange Encounters. In this presentation, Berg explains that when it comes to encounters with UFO occupants and cryptids, the cases most commonly used as examples for the strongest evidence are the ones that fit into the framework most easily with our sense of reality, often leaving out the really weird cases. But what if the weirdness was part of the point? Using encounter cases throughout history and focusing on the absurd qualities and “dreaminess” of these experiences, maybe we can discover that the more odd and surreal an encounter is, the bigger the imprint it makes.Find all of Steve Berg's work at the Linktree: https://linktr.ee/stevebergThis episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Give online therapy a try at: www.betterhelp.com/skies and get on your way to being your best self.On episode 351 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we review the classic Flatwoods Monster case from a new perspective. On September 12th, 1952, a group of local boys and one of their mothers saw what they described as a "shooting star" that fell to earth on the top of a hill. They soon stumbled upon an object that was glowing and hissing. Near the glowing object they were terrified to see a huge creature, that would come to be known as the Flatwoods Monster. What was it? Where did it come from? Featuring rare audio from UFO researchers, Ivan T. Sanderson and Stanton T. Friedman, we'll re-examine this classic case and look at some of the possible explanation for what may have crashed to Earth that day in 1952.Episode co-researched and co-written by Marcus Lowth: www.ufoinsight.comPatreon: www.patreon.com/somewhereskiesPayPal: Sprague51@hotmail.comWebsite: www.somewhereintheskies.comStore: http://tee.pub/lic/ULZAy7IY12UYouTube Channel: CLICK HEREOrder Ryan’s new book: https://a.co/d/4KNQnM4Order Ryan’s older book: https://amzn.to/3PmydYCTwitter: @SomewhereSkiesRead Ryan’s Articles by CLICKING HEREOpening Theme Song, "Ephemeral Reign" by Per KiilstofteCopyright © 2024. • 350. Project Grudge and the Fort Monmouth UFO Incident

    35:28
On episode 350 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we dig deep into the early files of Project Grudge. Intended to alleviate public anxiety over UFOs and persuade the public that UFOs constituted nothing unusual or extraordinary, Project Grudge sought to explain away UFO sightings. Officials recommended that the project be reduced in scope because the very existence of Air Force interest encouraged people to believe in UFOs. Eventually, the Air Force announced the project's termination in December of 1949. However, it would come to light that it was actually still in operation, albeit covertly, until late 1951. And one of the cases investigated was that of the Fort Monmouth UFO in New Jersey. Buried deep in what many believe was a coverup, the most detailed version would come to light through the words of the man who ran Project Grudge, and eventually, Project Blue Book; Edward J. Ruppelt. This episode was co-written and researched by Marcus Lowth. Japan has a long and fascinating history when it comes to UFOs, much of which is intricately documented in sacred and ancient texts. There is also an abundance of history that existed only orally until recent times, including that of the Utsuro Bune legend, when a group of fishermen discover a strange vessel in the water carrying a strange humanoid, unlike anyone they'd ever seen before. However, as you'll soon discover, this is only one of the enigmatic encounters that allegedly took place in Japan.Episode co-researched and written by Marcus Lowth: http://www.ufoinsight.comPatreon: www.patreon.com/somewhereskiesPayPal: Sprague51@hotmail.comWebsite: www.somewhereintheskies.comStore: http://tee.pub/lic/ULZAy7IY12UYouTube Channel: CLICK HEREOrder Ryan’s new book: https://a.co/d/4KNQnM4Order Ryan’s older book: https://amzn.to/3PmydYCTwitter: @SomewhereSkiesRead Ryan’s Articles by CLICKING HEREOpening Theme Song, "Ephemeral Reign" by Per KiilstofteCopyright © 2024.
