In 2011, he received his masters in creative writing from the University of St Andrews, after which he tended bar all over Scotland, taught middle school in Tacoma, Washington, learned how to pour a mean saison at Brasserie Saint Somewhere in Tarpon Springs, Florida, and almost learned how to write SQL as a data analyst in Denver, Colorado. Currently a doctoral candidate in literary translation at the University of Glasgow, he works on the Jacobite poet and provocateur, Alasdair mac Mhaighstir Alasdair.
