A farmer sees the sea retreating while his neighbours prepare a celebration. What happens next turns a harvest into a lesson in courage, compassion and responsibility. This radio drama is an original abridged learning adaptation of the Hamaguchi narrative in A Living God, from Gleanings in Buddha-Fields by Lafcadio Hearn (1897). It follows the literary telling, inspired by events in Japan, and is not a documentary reconstruction. Includes natural-disaster peril, without graphic detail. After the story, Peter explores useful expressions and a practical question about human values.
