Episode 8 – This Little Light of Mine

By the early 1990’s, many People of Hope members are disillusioned with the group and begin to pull away. Tom Morris starts a support group for others who are questioning the Community.

Episode 7 – Letters

Community members’ lives are increasingly controlled through demands on time, strict rules on behavior and speech, and isolation from the outside world. No one feels the pressure more than the students at the community run school. Tom Morris makes a devastating discovery.

Episode 6 – Formation

The People of Hope builds its own housing development in rural Warren Township. The community becomes increasingly repressive, and some young adults rebel.

Episode 5 – The Street

Residents of Berkeley Heights revolt against what they believe is a takeover of their town and the Archbishop of Newark is forced to act.&nbsp;

Episode 4 – The Bulwark

People of Hope encourages its 1,000 members to move to the quiet town of Berkeley Heights, NJ where they clash with local residents. Father Ferry leaves mysteriously and Bob Gallic takes over.

Episode 3 – Hopies

The People of Hope becomes a Covenant Community and a branch of The Word of God in Ann Arbor Michigan. Members are instructed to prepare for war. Tom Morris gets married.

Episode 2 – What is this War?

Newark NJ priest Father Jim Ferry founds The People of Hope and former stockbroker Bob Gallic becomes its Senior Head Coordinator. Tom Morris is one of the first to join, and he recounts the historic “Jesus ‘78” rally at Giant’s stadium.
